How can I get this hair colour?

Not the cut. Although the cut is lovely. But that colour!! It's exactly what I've been looking for a long time. How do I get it? What do I ask for? I took the video into a hairdressers yesterday and they basically said they'd do highlights or nothing. That isn't highlights is it?! My hair is long, like comes to the back of my bra length, and is a medium brown. No dye in it, it's my natural colour.

I just want to go to a hairdresser and walk out with that colour on the video! That's possible isn't it?! And if so, what do I ask for please. Hairdresser made me feel like an idiot yesterday, and I cancelled my appointment. Help!

That's brilliant, thanks!! Had never even heard of balayage before but that's prettty much exactly what I want. Have found a fairly local place that offers it so I'm going to pop in there tomorrow to have a chat with them and get the patch test done. Hopefully it will be more successful than last time!!

I echo the others, it's baylage, achieved with a shitton of foils. But any salon that makes you feel silly does not deserve your custom. Find someone good and bring the picture. Preferably the video.

I got something similar done before, but not to that extent. It took a few hours as my hair had a horrible orange tinge to it after years of putting red dye in it so they stripped it back a good bit ad worked with my natural colour at the roots and gradually lightened towards the tips.

The baylage is what will give you the 100% blonde saturation through mid lengths and ends.

It could be achieved in one go with balayage through back and sides then foils through the crown. Google balayage and foils.

I have dark brown hair and until last week had the above colour. Mine was achieved with full head of foils and ombre effect. It was done in one go with Olaplex.

Hmm. Ok. Well that's something to think about. To be honest the salon I went in yesterday, I find them really patronising and rude anyway, probably shouldn't have booked there in the first place! They were adamant my hair would not look any lighter, that highlights with lots of brown still visible was my only option and that I couldn't have what I wanted in one visit. I think I will keep looking around for somewhere else to go and see what they can suggest.

Looks to me that she has had frequent highlights so ends are pretty uniform but it is mildly streaky near the roots.

If you look at this screenshot, it doesn't look like an all over colour. It looks as though they may have compacted more foils the further down the hair they go, but not an all over colour.

Because...I don't know! When I've had highlights before, it's been more like streaks. Sort of thin stripes of colour but with your actual colour still visibly there as well. Which isn't what I want, I want a more 'all over' effect. In the video there's no trace of the dark brown colour she was before, except for the roots. Would that really be achieved by highlights in one visit?

Looks exactly like highlights to me...in fact that's pretty much what I have!

Why don't you take a picture to show them? They'll most likely know what they're doing. It's very similar to my hair, I'm blonde all over though just with a darker blonde up top and that was achieved with foils.
