Where do you buy everyday cotton T-shirts?

I've been looking for aaaaaaaaages for some t-shirts to replace the tired old ill fitting ones I currently own. I just want plain, good quality, cotton, with a little bit of stretch, not too tight but not stupidly baggy as I'd like them to look feminine. Why is this so hard?! Where do you buy yours?

I second Jigsaw - pima cotton T-shirts. Well cut and a good range of colours. I thought The White Company's one were great but now I think I should have sized up as they are a close fit.

Hush T-shirts Scatter Star ones are truly gorgeous but on the pricey side.

Another for Uniqlo. They wash so well.

Yeah, American Apparel shops are odd - I well, dp only buy online but good quality cotton and wash well. I normally love Uniqlo but have gone off their t shirts since they started adding elastane to them - makes them all hot and sweaty.

Thanks, Welly. I think I tried some of those on, but thought they needed a bit of elastane to help them hold their shape.

I have only ever been into American Apparel once. Everything looked pixie-sized.

Next has plain ones and they're inexpensive. Can be a bit boxy though and you do get what you pay for.

I like the ones with the 'short' sleeves that go half way down your bicep. I have three, grey, dark green and a sort of purple that are the same colours as a tweed jacket I have. I thought I saw them this summer too. They're about 4 years old. I have other black and navy ones that are older. I usually buy the slightly dearer thicker ones.

I have two Gap t-shirts that are so old, but I hate to throw them out because they are just the best. Otherwise find Sainsbury's pretty good - and they do do some Fairtrade cotton ones,

Agree that the quality of American Apparel is very good - order online. Have some ridiculously good sales.

I really dislike the M&S ones, they always go short and wide in the wash. I'm coveting the Jigsaw ones but I can't afford them. At the moment I've got some from George, which are performing surprisingly well, stretchy and a decent length ( I'm 5'10). I've a few Boden essential ones, but they vary so much, one is so thin it is only for layering, but the others are good.

American apparel. Best quality for the price and they never shrink. I have some that I bought 7 years ago, wore them through pregnancy to about 7 months and they have still kept their shape. One has just got its first hole (I wear it at least once a week so it's been washed several hundred times!). Best thing is they don't change their basic stock so I can easily buy replacements. Holy grail of t-shirts! I like the summer T but is fairly tight fitting.

American Apparel. I order online now (wore a lot of stuff from there when I was younger but not so much now!)

Gap, next and a couple I bought recently in the dregs of the m & s sale - two plain white tshirts for 4 quid. If they don't wash and wear well I won't be too upset.

Another vote for the Whistles ones - I wait for the sales. Wish they did more colours/prints though.

Welly - Which M&S ones do you like? The last ones I had lost their shape really quickly.

Does anyone know where I can get good quality t shirts that are wide at the bottom and preferably a bit drapey, like these.
Long sleeve
short sleeve

(I have these but are either bobbly or holey now Angry)

Another vote for Jigsaw- I have 5 in different colours. Go nicely under standard black work dress too in winter to change it up.

Sorry. H&M twisted out of shape on the first wash for me. Still using an old Zara one though.

I'm old so I get mine from M&S. Plain and the sleeve is a bit longer to hide bat wings! You have to be very selective with the colours but they do wash and tumble well.

Uniqlo are good. As are Cos- they do some nice fitted ones alongside the voluminous stuff. Around £20. I got the perfect t in whistles recently. It was £35 but it's already been worn over and over.

Uniqlo, hands down
Have 3 Ts and couple of cardigans, all at least 6 years old and they look like bought yesterday

What about American Apparel? I used to get my t-shirts from there (admittedly it was a while ago and last time I went into an actual store it was all gold leggings and fluorescent leotards)
