completely desperate. how do I style a green bloody polo neck?

My new work uniform is a green polo neck t shirt.... I actually considered not taking the job for this reason alone but they chucked more money at me so it felt petty.

What the holy hell can I team it with to make it more bearable?

There's no other dress code but I will be moving stock (field sales) so trousers best. Won't see managers for months on end so can cover it up a bit.

I am 5ft 2, size 14 and g cup boobs

I was given a bright red polo shirt to wear . It was truly foul on me. Tight across the boobs and the wrong length.

I threw a wobbly and said I was sure the brand image they were searching for was not a fat middle aged lady with zero self worth. ( because why on earth would anyone with an ounce of self respect wear it )

I had the largest men's size they had instead and restyled it.

I took the band off the sleeves and shortened and narrowed them.
Shaped the side seams.
Made the bottom curved and with side splits.

The colour was still dreadful om me but at least the shape was better.
At the end of the two week event we were tol we could keep them ! I said I would burn mine !

Didn't mean to be harsh, it just seems a shame you are having to go to this effort and stress/give this whole thing headspace
hope you find an elegant solution
or perhaps even a trend for ironic green poloshirts

Nope! I bet not a single one of them is too. They just stripped off and chucked it on. I am clearly much more vain than they are - but my body type also means they look better in it than I do / will without modifications. If I was straight up and down I wouldn't be worrying as much as I am!

didact I see where you are coming from, but because I am out in the field and it's not a recognisable uniform, there's a strong chance I would just look like i enjoy walking around in Green polo shirts.... And I just am not that person. I've worn crappy uniforms within a building with team mates but this feels different some how Confused

you can bet none of the guys are even thinking about spending their sunday night and their own money on an alternative for the work uniform

That is honestly amazing! If I could make it look like that I would be over the moon. I think getting the fit altered is going to be key isn't it? Im Gojng to try it on with a blazer tomorrow and see if i can get away with it. Thank you so much for giving me hope!

TBH, Id just wear the damn thing and stop stressing about how it looks
its a work uniform, don't put too much thought into it. The less you worry about it the more comfortable and confident you will feel: as long as its washable, practical for the job its adequate.
and yes, Ive had to wear a fair few unattractive uniforms in my time: oddly enough when I stopped stressing about how I looked, and just got on with the job and being myself, I felt better: and have never had a bad comment (even for the polkadot lilac tabard job, or the bright orange labcoat style jacket one)

This could be passable for days where you're meeting managers.

I saw this on the colour matching site someone listed to above. I am wondering if I could get the logo transferred on to it? I may need to get the colour a bit darker though.

The t shirt shape I honestly don't know where to begin with. They would have to be a miracle worker never mind a seamstress!

The colour is not bad. The shape is horrible but I think you could do something with it.

This is the offending article.

I could try taking it to a tailor actually, that's not a bad shout. Then with black slimline trousers and a belt do you think? And it tucked in?

I am still thinking of a wrap top in a similar colour may be best way to go, but I will need to wear it occasionally when I see senior managers.

If you could alter it to this shape you're in business. Failing that, buy a new better quality version in the same green colour.

Ask them where they buy from. There will be a set up cost so you need to get it from the same place to avoid paying it again. Companies like xamax do a huge range of stuff.

I'd try tucking it in and taking in the sides.

It is a generic "medium" so tight over my boobs, loose every where else and a weird length because I am short Sad

I think I am going to just keep it in the car. There's nothing redeemable about this is there? no Matter what I put on my bottom half!

Ooh if It goes funny in the wash too then it wouldn't be my fault! The rest of the team are all blokes and were wearing their t shirts with glee at the training day..... I have a branded ipad case. That can be ID enough!

Lanyard with logo / company card would maybe sort the branding bit.

burnishedsilver · 01/05/2016 23:35

Is it slim fitting or loose? Perhaps you could have it altered to fit a bit better.

Sorry that made no sense at all!

I mean, maybe you could get a tshirt in the 'right' colour here, or some such place.

Can you get the logo on a different article of clothing? Like a fitted shirt or v neck jumper?
