Foundation for pale, cool toned skin (pic)

Years ago I gave up on all liquid foundation as too yellow, and I've been wearing translucent powder (when I use anything) ever since. Have things moved on? Is there a foundation for my pale, slightly pink face?

I have clear skin that tends towards dryness, so I'm looking for sheer coverage that will make me look dewy and fresh, rather than anything mattifying. I don't ask for much.

Here is a make-up free picture of my face in natural light with a gratuitous terrier for your viewing pleasure.

Awesome! Thanks Frugal

Feawen Revlon Colorstay in Ivory is really pink on me (sadly matte not glowy finish). If it is too pink, the Korean stuff is good for more balanced undertones. I've ordered from Amazon and eBay, Boots carries Dr Jart Premium. Adding some swatches from old threads:

Thanks fuzzy. That was what I thought but the vein thing threw me!

That sounds amazing, Frugal, but where do you get them from?

Gosh. The thought that there might be a foundation out there that is too pale and cool for me is hard to wrap my head around! Misha M signature 13 might be though.

I am in love with Korean BB creams. They are properly pale/cool, the palest one I own is nearly white (Missha M Signature #13). They also often have a dewy, glowy finish. Dr Jart Premium and Missha Perfect Cover #13 and Missha Magic Cushion #21.

Pupsie, re your last question, is there no correlation between your skin tone and what colours suit you. This is the wrong way round, what colours suit you are entirely dependant on your skin tone

Pupsie, veins rarely mean anythibg, it's a red herring really. If you've been properly diagnosed as an Autumn then your skin will be warm not cool. Warm skin suits warm colours and vice versa

I've tried so many foundations over the years, like you I am pale and cool toned. My favourite foundation at the moment is Nars Luminous Weightless foundation - its really natural and they do a great range of colours.

The Bobbi Brown and MAC foundations I have tried in the past were too yellow but that may have been down to the assistants choosing the wrong shade!

I'm really confused and this is probably a daft question. My "colours" are Autumnal, deep and warm. But having just investigated, my skin is cool (my wrist veins look blue). I had always assumed I must have warm skin if warmer tones suit me but it seems this is not the case. I am pale, slightly freckly, have red in my mid brown hair. That's probably all irrelevant lol. But there is no correlation between skin tone and the colours that suit you?

I have had that exact problem with foundations also op. Found this product recently and cannot sing its praises enough. This will really help with the shade of foundations and the yellowish tones.

Try a consultation at a Mac counter... They (used to?) do something called Studio sculpt which was a gel formula and gave a lovely finish
I've recently moved to Lancôme Tient Visonaire because my skin is old dryer, and I really like it but I don't know if they do the same range of colours as Mac

I find Bobbi Brown foundations to be too yellow based. I love their make up generally but would avoid their bases if cool toned.

I use no7 intelligent colour in pale www.boots.com/en/No7-Intelligent-Colour-Foundation_1259572/ and have very pale colouring. However I saw a thread recently saying the texture had changed (not sure as had an old one from 3 for 2 still using) so try sample in store first.

p.s- if you buy Bobbi Brown online you can return all foundations, powder etc for a refund if it's no good.

I find the No 7 Cool Ivory much too dark- have only tested in store but it's not what I'd call 'pale'. Calico is their lightest shade and I found it grey-pink and returned for a refund.

OP- I don't think you will find much paler than Bobbi Brown Alabaster. it's very pale- too pale for me. I have used several of their foundations and although colours are supposed to be uniform across their range, they aren't. Skin Foundation and their Stick Foundation come up lighter than Moisture Rich.

Laura Mercier do a pale shade which I find too pink- I'm neutral.

Nars Siberia may work- too pale for me. I used Gobi which is more yellow but found it too yellow.

I think that we are supposed to ignore the pink blushy bits and accept weirdly that most of us are neurally tones or vaguely yellow

i really rate nars and mac for pale foundation that is neutral or ends up neural once on the skin
both will try them on you I used to wear nars siberia or mac mixed with their primer but actually I now wear colorstay ivory fairly often and I love it

Grin Terriers are the best.

I'm also loving the rose pearl description. Smile

Thanks Wagglebees, she's awesome. Her selfie game is better than mine, though Grin

Delighted with all these ideas! I love the idea of being 'rose pearl' coloured (as opposed to awkwardly pasty)

Keep my eye on the thread as I have very pale cool toned skin.

Your terrier is adorable btw. Those little teeth!

I have very pale, cool toned skin too and can absolutely recommend Bare Minerals serum foundation in porcelain 01 (works best over a primer) and also Shiseido perfect refining foundation in shade 100 (very light ivory).
