How to style these boots?

I've just been bought these boots for Christmas. I've been looking at and lusting after them for ages and my boss bought them for me. Problem is I have no idea how to style them to stop them looking "streetwalker"

I was thinking thick tights with jumper dresses or a mini skirt and jumper so make them look a bit more casual. I wondered if I could even get away with black or blue leggings again with longer jumpers. Obviously on a night out its going to be little black dress all the way but I didn't want to save them just for best, I get precious little frivolous new things just because I love them so I want lots of options. What would you suggest?

Been trying to find this thread again! Look good.

Still meaning to get these. OP I do have a similar style in that they are proper boots with a zip fastening but they lace up with ribbons all the way down the side. I normally wear them with black stockings or tights but not opaque ones so you can clearly see the lace up effect and they look great.

I'm with Carpe, definitely a midi and no tights. I think that's the only way to wear them TBH.

These look much better on that I thought they might in the original picture. They look good with opaques. (You look good, OP.) Prefer the look with the stripey dress than with the midi skirt. Greengarden may have a point and lower denier tights might look even better.

I'd buy myself a pair if I thought I could do the heel.

The boots are definitely of the moment & I think you're doing the right thing by trying to wear them with different looks. They will be soo last season come March so wear wear wear.
I maintain that my initial idea of midi & no tights is the way to go.

Maybe a slightly sheer tight would make you really see the boots better though? Since it was a style you liked I do get what others are saying about you not seeing the style of boot with the thick tights.

I agree they do just look like ordinary boots now. They also make your legs look bigger than they are (you have a nice figure). The stripey bodycon dress would look better with tights and shoes.

I think they look nice on you with the thick tights :)

They look like ordinary knee high boots now.

There's only a certain kind of thigh high boots that were hookerish - Pretty Woman for example.

60s thigh boots were chic.

Personally I don't think there's any way of wearing these boots and not looking like Khloe Kardashian.

Midi skirt suit will look great.

Mini skirt risks looking hookerish.

Smart high necked shift dress with minimal jewellery, accent on the boots.

Avoid anything low cut or you will look OTT.

Black pencil skirt and chunky knit.

Loads of solutions!

As soon as I have them I will find a way don't worry itgoes I don't have an issue with open toed shoes and tights, if it's good enough for VB then it's good enough for me! And I think black tights on black shoes could tone them down. But then I'm one of those crazy people who will colour block bright tights with bright shoes Grin

Everyone used to think thigh high boots were hookerish and now you cant move for them in the shops, same with leather shorts. I agree skinny jeans might be tough but until I try them I won't know.

Right now I'm leaning towards my laser cut leather full midi skirt, my suede pencil skirt and thick tights with oversized jumper dresses, plus trying them under my skirt suits and trying them with black leggings and skinny jeans and then coming back here for opinions.

Thanks everyone for the constructive suggestions and even the negative opinions, they've just made me more determined that I love them as if I'm on the fence and someone says they hate something I would normally come round to hating it too but in this case I've just wanted to defend them!

I'm with Utterly and think a midi would be wrong.

OP. You have these boots therefore you must come up with a way, a time, a place to wear them! And report back! ('Cos I am fascinated by the boots and want to how they are worn in RL.) And then buy myself a pair

No to leggings or skinny jeans. Double no to skinny jeans, sorry OP.

Skirts or dresses of a length that will almost but not quite meet the top of the boots. Like burnished's first and third photos but without the split in the skirt of the first photo.

I wouldn't do a leather skirt with them either.

I think you will have a hard time avoiding the hooker boots look. Sorry!

I can't see how they'd work as day wear. With open toes, in winter they'd look wrong with tights and be cold/wet with bare feet. Then in the summer they'd be too hot.

Lol.everyone will look at our face then your legs then try and think of something nice to say

I can't envisage them in a day wear scenario to be honest.

UtterlyClueless · 11/12/2015 06:12

I must be the only one that thinks midi skirt will look horrendous with them.

Fuck me they are horrific.

Unless you're working the streets.

Definetly midi skirts and NOT a mini unless you are wanting to work part time on the streets Wink

I'm not sure you could ever style them down. Thick tights won't work because of the open toe and skinny jeans would look wrong because of them finishing at ankle. Skirts the only way to go I think.

Thank you onadark they also have them in beige but I though black would be easier to style.
I'm hoping to find enough styling options that I never have to take them off. I'd wear heels for wandering round the house if I didn't have wood floors!
