Bored with my hair.. again. Had it coloured recently and it's a bit dark..especially down the lengths. I really would like to try going grey again soon.

I fancy a short cut..but a bit scared of looking like a bloke !

Current hair and a couple if ideas... any thoughts?

It looks great! Well done for being brave (and taking a good few years off too!)

Wow! Your new haircut looks amazing - very flattering. I'm similar age to you (47) and have been having my hair cut shorter and shorter for the past couple of years - I am probably a couple of cuts ahead of you in terms of going even shorter Smile. I now get mine cut above my ears (I got fed up with tucking it behind them and finding that my hair had escaped again!). I also have my fringe quite a bit shorter and tend to use hair product to hold it up even more, so most of my forehead is exposed. As far as hair products go, I stick with the one that my hairdresser uses - it's this one. I just run my fingers through my (dry) hair with a bit of this on, and it creates a bit of a messy, textured look. I have to style my hair every day now that it's shorter, but it is very quick to wash/dry/style so that doesn't bother me.

Hope you enjoy the world of shorter hair!

Ah thank you for being so kind :) I do wonder if I should have had the sides shorter..they are tucked behind my ear and one taekwondo class later.. in full sparring kit (yes.. menopausal and nuts Grin) I now am wearing a less flattering sweat mushroom on my head !! I think I will have to do daily styling while I get to grips with it.

I took the brown hair cut pic with me on my phone and said 'sort of like that'! A bit of a risk at a walk in cutting bar, but hell.. hair grows again so I figured if I hated it it would grow. Dh is away tonight but he assures me he doesn't mind whatever I do. My sons however have both gone WTF MUM?! (aged 18 and 22 and think all women should have LONG hair lol)

Yes of course short hair doesn't suit everyone. But I do think a drastic change of some kind (and if it suits) is a good thing from time to time, especially when the tendency is toward becoming set in one's ways.

I also disagree that grey is always aging, in fact I think a lot of the 'flat' harsh colours that people use to cover grey have a very aging effect.

Wow, looks fantastic really suits your face shape.

But I don't agree that shorter always suits everyone when they get older. I have longer hair and everyone says it suits me better than short

Medusa you look fab. Amazing cut that suits makes you look years younger and much more fancy Smile .

Supercosmic I could post a photo that would prove how monumentally wrong your statement is but I can't be arsed.

Grey hair is not ageing. Looking old makes you look old.

That looks great you're bound to get loads of compliments
Shorter & styled is much more flattering when you get older, it lifts your face
As for going grey, DONT DO IT, it's so ageing, even my mum has a semi permanent colour every 6 weeks & she's 93!! Smile

I clicked on this thread and was going to post urging you to go short. You have lovely bone structure. I see you have already done it and you look fan-feckin-tastic!
