Eyebrow and lash tints

I'm going on holiday in a few weeks and think I would benefit from brow and lash tints, as I'm quite fair and when make up washes off in the sea, look like I don't really have brows or lashes. I really hate being messed around with and am very scared of salons - especially having heard frightening stories of Angry Bird eyebrows. I would probably benefit from some kind of eyebrow shaping as well, but have never had it done. So my questions are - can anyone recommend home lash and brow tint kits and has anyone used a home eyebrow shaping kit - sort of peel off sellotape -y thing - did it work? Do you think it's possible to do it all at home and look ok, or should I be v brave and go to a professional?

Mine covers my greys. However I think you can get grey dye if you wanted that colour.

For those which do your own does it work on grey eyebrows?

I only have a few at the moment but I can see the number increasing at quite a pace.

I do my own.

Have been to a salon, but find the effect is just the same whether I pay £15 for the experience, or buy the pack for £6 which lasts me for ages.

I paint on the dye with my eyes open. Just using a cotton bud.

Be carefeul not to get ANY in your eyes. Stings like buggery!

Lilyfire...it's as good. You could always get someone to apply it for you if you are not confident. Cut a cotton pad in half and place one under each eye. Some Vaseline along the lid and above and below the brow so that you tint just the hair itself. You can use a cotton bud/mascara wand. Don't freak out about how dark it is. When you take it off it will be lighter.5 mins and Bob's your Uncle. It is not permanent .It will fade. Actually I think I will redo mine tomorrow.

Benefit brow bar massacred my brows. Make sure you are very clear what you want!

I get mine done in a salon every few weeks. Well worth the £12 it costs, especially for a holiday where you don't want to be messing around with mascara and eyebrow pencil.

I can't do DIY as I would need my glasses to see what I was doing and my lenses are a no no.
Plus, I go directly after work and I like the lie down Grin

Sonata - do you think it looks pretty much as good DIY?

Lilyfire.I worked out how much I was paying to have it done professionally when I could do it myself for a fraction of the cost. At least , doing it myself, my eyes don't sting ! It's the same stuff that they use in the salons anyway.

20 minutes and £20 are bearable. I think I would look better with it all tidied up professionally. Katie - I wear lenses and wouldn't have thought to take them out first - thanks.
Sonata - thanks for the home dye tip. Good you can use the same kit for both. Will try it if I wimp out of the professional visit.

Oh and don't go with your contact lenses in. Unless you like driving home with a sepia tinge, that is.
I did this the first time. Never again.

I agree, eyebrow tinting is the best beauty procedure I've ever done. I started a few months ago (tint and shape) and I feel it has made such a huge difference to my appearance.

I just go to a regular beauty salon.

The very first day I had it done, I wasn't very sure of it but I just needed to get used to them!

Brow bars offer a free wax within a month of your birthday for anyone who wants to try them.

Strictly Professional eyelash tint from Amazon. You will need to buy the developer as well. Easy peasy. I have brown for my brows and blue/black for my lashes. Use an old mascara wand for the lashes. Put Vaseline where you don't want the dye and use half the amount that it says on the instructions. Do a patch test behind your ear 24 hours before though. Very important.

£18 and 20 mins for me. Worth every penny.

Another vote for going to a professional then. Have checked out the Benefit bars and there is one not too far away, so I don't have an excuse not to try it.

I hate wearing make up. I have fair lashes and brows so I get a blue black eyelash tint every six to eight weeks. It is fab, and the twice I have tried it at home was no where near as good. Re brows,I get them shaped about twice a year and try to keep the shape myself in between. I made really clear I just wanted them tidied up, not totally pruned! Luckily, I have been with the same beautician for about. Twelve years so I totally trust her.

Can I ask how much it costs and how long it takes - am very jealous of my time and hate idea of sitting in a beauty bar for too long? Thanks

I have very blonde brows and go every 4 weeks for eyelash tint, eyebrow wax and dye. The single most fantastic things that I have ever done to my face. I get by with just lippy these days.

Mmm thanks. Maybe sounding like I need to be brave.

Go to a professional. It's not much more expensive than the kit but far more likely to be a success.

Oh ok. I do like benefit stuff. Do you think they would do the lot without making me look alarming?
