How long do you think Space NK can go on for?

I've just been to a smaller branch and I didn't find them very helpful at all. I needed a foundation until I could get to John Lewis in a couple of weeks. I went in on my way home from nights so looking ancient and knackered there were four assistants in there talking not one came to help me. There was nothing in that shop that couldn't be bought anywhere else. When someone finally came to me I asked for a foundation not the most expensive one as it was only a stop gap. Next minute she was thrusting Eve Lom into my hand as if she hadn't heard a word I'd said. I sad sorry but I don't want to spend more than thirty so she begrudgingly got me a nars one and put it on the back of my hand, didn't even try it on my fac. I asked for it to be put on my face but for all the effort she put into it I needn't have bothered. I knew it was my colour anyway so I just bought it. I honestly don't know how the shop survives there's hardly anything in it, far too many staff that are badly trained and it's so expensive. Am I the only one!?

I think that formal research (like this) has to be sanctioned by MNHQ but not sure.

I'll report your post just to double check!

One point, just to make sure that your research is as credible and reliable as possible (hopefully good marks in the project!) best not to ask leading questions like "the refund policy is also pretty good, would you guys agree?"

Would be best to ask if the person answering knows about the refund policy. If they say, yes, you can ask what they think of it. Once they have given their answer, you could ask more leading questions such as explaining your views and asking if they agree.

If they said no, you could explain the refund policy (factually) and ask for their views, then give your opinion.

I'm Hmm about the brand reps. That is very misleading

They get tons of attention from women where I work - Wimbledon Village.

They fawn all over them and when it becomes apparent that I either don't want their squillion pound ranges or am only there for my free birthday gift... or I ask too many questions then they leave me alone.

MrsCampbell - they've never given me samples... they're nice re the free gifts.

MipMop - yes your experience recently is like mine, not helpful and chatty staff amongst themselves. Do they still stock Shu Uemura too? I quite literally every month bought a Shu eyeshadow from Bishopsgate branch when I worked up there and NARS products too.

I think their CS needs a damned good shake up!

For those saying CS can't be amended etc... well it can!

Years ago the staff in Bishopsgate were lovely - so much so that I went back time after time for nigh on 6 years.... they'd compliment me on blusher, eyeshadow (maybe a bit crawly but so what?) and they always made time to assist rather than in the cases of a few people here, ignore unless they have lots of money etc.

A lot of these people are purely (and no disrespect to them) sales women/men with little/no knowledge about their product apart from the blurb they're trained to trot out. At least in Bobbi Brown (I think) and MAC you have proper makeup artists who know how to apply makeup for a living! Yes some of the Space NK can apply makeup but as to what end... and this was from having a few makeovers there too.

The ones in Bath pounce on you like you're their long lost friend, it's really embarrassing.

I have been in the Manchester shop and it's been pretty good. When I went in just to look, I felt a bit intimidated. If they were busy I felt in the way if they weren't busy I felt embarrassed to just be poking around. When I went in search of a particular product two weeks ago, they were perfectly lovely. I went back last week and had another positive experience. The girl recommended a couple of things and when I bought one she gave me a sample of one of their popular serums. (Unfortunately, I no longer remember what it was.)

I like them because they have things that aren't available in the city centre anywhere else, but I find the shop a bit small for just looking around.

I have been in 3 recently. Richmond was great, good service.
Kingston was pretty poor but not terrible.
St. Paul/ cheapside was appalling a couple of weeks ago. They used to be so good, now they are bad compared to most high street shops.
What has happened to them? Do they tell their staff to be crap?!?

I was just wondering about this thread as I was putting on my Narrs foundation she fobbed me off with. It's useless for my skin and I'm going to have to ditch it halfway through. I can't afford to but I'm do disappointed. Was in John Lewis at the weekend and I came out with loads of samples from Origins and even Jo Malone who I never thought would give testers. I would be interested to fill in any survey.

And ask for samples. If I buy something there I always get some.

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences, I saw your comment and couldn't help but reply. I've recently joined the Nottingham Team as the only male :) if you ever pop in and shop with us again I would be grateful to help you :). Quite a fair few people have said how lovely my service has been and how lovely it is to see a male working in a place like this, so hopefully one day I can give you my great services too :) x

Brighton one awful too. Went in to get a cream I regularly buy elsewhere, assistants chatting to one another - no other customers. Had to ask twice for cream's location. Took my credit card in a pissed off manner and then didn't return it (had gone back to chatting) had to say "excuse me" three times to get attention - no apology only a really p**d off face. (I'm in my 50's too).

Decided to give them another one morning as I needed a birthday gift for my sister (who likes the one in her city and always gets loads of free samples), empty store - chatting again. Asked for a box set of stuff (about £65)Told I couldn't be served as "the cleaners (who had smiled at me) were still in." Confused

I've been to the Newcastle one several times and always been greeted with a friendly hello by all the staff, plus they chuck in a few freebies to try even if I just buy a blusher. And I'm 45, definitely no teenager! DP was impressed when I dragged him in one time too

They're still helpful and friendly in the Richmond branch!
