btw I personally find the 'tramp stamp' thing just another one of those 'women putting other women down when we really should know fucking better SISTAH!' type things.

But maybe that's just me. Possibly I should have accepted that intelligent women might spout such derogatory bollocks about a bit of ink.

Can anyone link to nice bikinis? By nice I mean styles that will suit a 5'3 lady with a Buddha belly!

I'm on my hols at the moment, had been persuaded by previous threads on here (possibly by the same OP?)to buy a bikini rather than a swimsuit.

Now I'm 5'8 and a size 12 so not overweight, BUT I have had two very large babies in the past few years, my silvery stretchmarks don't bother me really but the skin on my stomach is stretched and sagged to buggery.

i have a kind of crease that goes from my belly button down to my c section overhang that is tucked in my bikini bottoms Grin

But who fucking cares, I wear a dress to cover up when I'm walking around anyway and it looks ok when I lie down.

I'm in Tunisia and have only seen 4 or 5 people wearing a swimsuit, all shapes and sizes here.

florence that is lovely, I'm sure you'll look great!

However - do you watch Spongebob, well imagine Patrick Star squeezed into a teensy pair of pants, that's me overhang and pink layering Blush

OP - I have just checked and yes, as I suspected, you used the word 'trampstamp' earlier - lovely wee bit of misogyny then.

It is odd how many 'embrace your curves/real women' types, a la Gok, secretly despise many women. I bet you think tattoos are 'chavvy' too, as well as making you a tramp. Lovely.

Wildthongs jump onto the Leia website and have a look at the Freya cossies. Really nice and very supportive.

Fauve for the bigger of busted.

Is 'arse antlers' an acceptable alternative? That is what they are called where I live.

I sometimes find underwired a bit push up and in your face for the beach Not a relaxed feel at all but I do need them!

Report
Bonsoir · 11/07/2013 11:14

It really does depend on your body. One piece swimsuits are just much more flattering on me.

Report
snoworneahva · 11/07/2013 11:29

Lots of the Dd+ bikinis on figleaves look like bras rather than bikinis - I guess the support is needed but it just looks like underwear rather than swimwear.

elQuintoConyo · 11/07/2013 11:48

I have also heard 'arse antlers', Australian, isn't it?
Tattoos don't bother me but I am glad I never got one total pain hating wuss as I am now 38 with post-dc stretched, sagging skin and I'm sure anything I had would now be dragging on the floor/half-hidden in folds!
I love getting my tits out on the beach. Due to previous paragraph, I know no one is looking at my jugs - except DH Wink it's really freeing.

If I can ever afford a beach holiday again I shall go for the topless option - no one will be looking at my dodgy tum with 30HH knockers on view! This option will not work if we go with parents or PIL, though.

Having said all that about state of tummy, I have just remembered that PIL saw my bikini-clad body 3 months post-birth (DD1 was stillborn, PIL kindly took us on holiday to cheer us up, I wore bikinis with sod-it attitude brought on by grief, banned cameras, and there was no full-length mirror in the villa), so it can't get worse than that! Also if we do go on holiday with Dad, stepmum and the kids it will be my duty to show 9 yo and 6 yo sisters that you don't have to look like models to wear bikinis and teach them valuable life lesson about body confidence.

I agree hate that the tops look like bras It doesn't say holiday still feels restrictive

I guess I'm the only woman on the planet who doesn't care if her swim suit is flattering, what ever that means and wants it to be practical.

I go on holiday to have fun, not look decorative.

Report
dexter73 · 12/07/2013 07:00

There is also the option of practical, flattering and nice looking. Also I think most people go on holiday to have fun and part of that can be looking nice. It isn't a crime to be interested in what you wear you know.

I never said it was a crime to look nice, unfortunately for those of us who burn instantly and have to hide in rash vests, costumes and cover ups of some sort, the conventional nice of a bikini was never a option even when we were slim teens.

I'm a bit, jelous I guess, when people go on about bikinis.

Report
dexter73 · 12/07/2013 08:07

Ok it just sounded a bit snotty when you said you go on holiday to have fun not to be decorative. You didn't mention anything about burning and having to be covered up because of that.
