Ah that makes sense Married. I have a red bra which is ok under a (fairly thick) white t-shirt. We can surmise, therefore, that I have bright red skin .

The red/nude bra thing is dependent on your skin. The trick is to find a bra that is as dark or slightly darker than your skin TONE. Many so called nude bras are too pale which is why they show through. For me, with my olive/Asian skin, the best colour is purple, french navy or red. I've found some of the darker old fashioned nude tones are ok but not my thing.

For dark skinned women, black is usually best.

Current fashion has quite a few coral and dark pink bras which are great on a Caucasian skin with a bit of a tan.

AFAIK a red bra works under a white too but it might work under other colours too.

I wore a sleeveless pinky coloured polyester silky top the other day and had a similar dilemma, went inexplicably for a lilac bra and a white cami. Photos on FB show an array of straps poking out, looks totally crap. A visible nude bra would actually have looked more sophisticated
