What to wear over very pale legs in summer with skirts??

My legs are not fit to go bare - pale, blotchy and 40+

In winter I wear black opaques - but what can I wear with summer skirts?

I like nude fishnets or Sally Hansen spray on legs - you can blend it over even the pastiest of legs.

I just wear my skin. It's grey/blue. I'm not ashamed of it. Smile

Jax and MrsMills it's a young look here too (I live next door to a private university and the girls there embrace the tights+cutoffs look) but it has made sheer black tights fashionable for all - they aren't deeply middle aged any mnore. Many people here have very pale winter skin now, it will change after a couple weekends on the beach to mahogany, but people are definitely unwilling to flash skin right now although it's very warm.

Dexter this type of cutoff / culotte seems to fashionable too right now (Acne do them among others), but you tend to see them on fashionistas as they are quite tricky to wear.

I used to wear white and nude fishnets and they are quite popular among office workers here. The tighter netted ones tend to look a bit bizarre up close (weird skin texture). I loved this type, but they can be quite unforgiving if your legs are not very toned.

Thanks for the links!

I will check out the Faulke tights, and also looking at the Uniquo cropped leggings - are they good ones, do they bag/pile?

Can anyone give me a link/brand name for some nude fishnets. Tried typing it into Amazon and got a load of Playboy-bunny style stuff, which is not really the look I'm after...

Nude micronet fishnets. They sort of fool the eye but I also think they look quite funky up close.

I don't think I've seen anyone over the age of 21 wearing this look (am in Stockholm).

The cut off shorts with sheer black tights is standard school wear here for girls from around 14 upwards. Preferably with the scruffier of converse or sandshores. Teamed with the biggest beanie hat you can find. I don't th

My DD loves the tights and shorts look as do many teen girls where I live. Not for me though, Id be muttony. Grin

I have a little bottle of St Tropez gradual tan, going to give it a go over the weekend and I will report back. Havent had much luck with grad tan or fake tan. Always ends up streaky/patchy, despite moisturising, scrubbing etc.

Of course you mean shorts!! Duh! I had it in my head that you meant sort of 3/4 length cut off jeans. Denim shorts and tights is a look favoured by the teenagers here not the mums!

I have red patches due to a skin condition on my shins, have done for years. I cannot wax, or fake tan, because the colour is too uneven. Even shaving is tricky, so I only do it during the summer months when i have too! I just wear skirts, and find the older I get the less I care. I do a lot of spin classes/cycling, so have quite, erm.....'chunky' calves too...... i try to waer nice skirts, sandals and paint my toe nails, and try to distract! But if you really feel the need, a bit of holiday skin or something is good - I tried it once, and it was good on my 'normal' bits of shin, but not on the red bits.

The one bit of advice I have though, that I swear by, is that no-one is looking at you as they are all too worried about their own insecurities!

Good luck!

Sounds worth a try auld.

I think a lot of people have been a bit shocked at the sudden bareness of legs over the last few days and we really haven't got used to it yet.

They do fool the eye, you have to be pretty close up to notice.

Do nude fishnets look very fishnetty or does is it to 'fool' the eye?

It's not new, it's been fashionable for a couple of seasons now, but sheer black is definitely back and a way to deal with pasty pre-beach season skin.

This style is the normative street look in Rome and apparently also Milan right now - sheer (sheerer than in the pic) black tights worn with denim cut-off shorts (often with frayed edges). Footwear varies, have seen converse, slouchy suede boots and various types of flat shoes. No coat atm, any top goes but no skimpy vests.

I've also seen sheer black tights combined with discreet trainers (black vintage Airmax) and a simple black knee-length skirt and a simple top - at the opera! Incredibly chic...

The Sally Hansen airbrush legs is amazing stuff. It makes me not care about my legs and I do get them out.

Although the past few days I have had them bare in the garden to try to get the blueness away. Grin
