How can I get hold of a US-only Clinique product??

A few years ago, I used to use a fantastic eyebrow shaper by Clinique.

I'm just climbing back onto the grooming wagon (ha!) and went to my nearest Clinique counter to buy another one. Turns out that it has been discontinued in the UK, but a quick Google search shows that it is still being sold in the USA. SO annoying!!

First off, why do brands do this?? And, secondly, does anyone know of any retailers in the USA that may ship to the UK? I've found it on Ebay, but I'd prefer to buy from a proper retailer if I can.

I've found one by Benefit, but I don't like the texture as much as the Clinique one and eyebrow pencils always seem to be a little too harsh on me.

Help me before I slink back into my ungroomed hovel!

Amazon or ebay?

valiumredhead · 20/02/2013 16:16

Oh sorry you have found it on ebay. If it's a good ebayer I would just buy it from there personally.

notjustamummythankyou · 20/02/2013 16:31

Thanks valium. You're right and, after posting here, I found a seller with a feedback score of over 26000 at 100% - good enough for me!

Wonder why it was withdrawn from the UK market? Very strange. Perhaps brits simply prefer pencils...

I buy a lot of creams/cosmetics from ebay - I look for supersellers and good feedback. Ime their service when things go wrong is FAR better than in high street shops.

Contact Clinique UK head office - they may be able to help too

There are so many of these on the market right now. Sleek and MUA do cheap ones which can tide you over while you wait for your ebay purchase - you might like them better!

I've just seen the sleek one mentioned elsewhere, jackie. Is that the one from superdrug? £8?

Bugger.

Yep that's the one.

Is it just USA or Canada too? I could have a look on my local counter. Wouldn't cost that much in a Jiffy bag if you were prepared to wait a week or two?

SavoyCabbage · 21/02/2013 03:01

What about Strawberrynet?

notjustamummythankyou · 22/02/2013 07:47

That's kind of you, moose, but I've now bought it on eBay. My eyebrows shall once again be groomed!

I know you're wanting this specific Clinique product but I've just bought the new (it was launched here a fortnight ago) brow gel from Mac. I'm not a big Mac fan but wanted something I could swim in and know it'd stay put. It's £14. Comes in a weeny pot and will last forever! It's easy to apply. It stays. I wouldn't go back to powders.

Just a thought Smile

Do you mean this, Eliza? What sort of brush do you apply it with, or does it come with one?

I've got an eyebrow slanted brush, I've had it years. Quite a stiff one. Even after going for a run, it doesn't move. I like it. I think it's a copy of Laura Mercier's one but kind of half the cost.
