In brief:

Posh extended family lunch thing on Saturday for a golden wedding anniversary.

Unutterably dreadful week from hell at work. Absolutely zero opportunity to go shopping. Nothing whatsoever to wear.

Cannot even go to Next / M&S at local retail park in the evenings as DH works away from home and no childcare (and just cannot face dragging 5,6 & 7 y.o shopping of an evening in last week of term, it would be suicidal).

Please find me something vaguely suitable, up to £70, from an online retailer that can deliver by close of business Friday.

think I might get some of those shoes regardless, Lipstick, although there's only the turquoise left in my size.

But the dress is the one that Gaston said was horrid Grin

How about the glamourous maxi dress from Boden in the ruby tones with patent sandals - twist ones in poppy. Under budget. Rewearable. Order it on a next day delivery thingy. Sorted. The green colourway in the dress is good too for irish colouring and there are twist slides that will tone with those too.

Monsoon - a bit over budget but I've seen it in store and think it's beautiful. The colours are really vibrant.

OK, think I'm going on the basis that two recommendations can't be a bad thing, and buy the purple Hobbs one. They only have it left in a 12, so fingers crossed it fits.

And other fingers crossed it's not too short.

Other than the scarily expensive little purple bag that goes with it, what kind of bag? DD has a black sequinned baguette bag that she uses for dressing up. Shall I nick it?

More Boden, but what about this? Do I only like it because it's cheap?

MissBee's understated dress is the sort of thing you could get away with if you were breathtakingly gorgeous yourself (which I'm seriously not!!)

Grin @ blindassassin 'I know it's Boden, but...'

Not averse to Boden, and that skirt is nice. I would definitely get to wear that again too, it would be good for work in the summer.

I know it's Boden, but this silk skirt could be worth a punt at the price. I've just bought this cream top which is lovely and could look good with it. Both bargains. OK, now onto dresses I promise!

How about something like this silk skirt with matching shirt from Wrap? Both on sale so good prices I think. Will keep looking.

Sorry, both of those bit over budget.

up to £70 I think, although if you found me something stupendous that was £75 I'd stretch to it Grin

I've been thinking dresses, on the basis that it's only one item to worry about, and also being very long of leg, it's quite hard to get trousers to fit (that said, Next long ones are often OK).

I'm very happy to have skirt / trousers + top combination, it's just that clothes shopping seems to panic me these days so I don't really know where to start.

Can you give an idea of budget? And do you ideally want a dress or trousers/top combo?
