This competition has now closed

In celebration of the DoubleTree by Hilton Cookie becoming the first ever food item to be baked fresh in space, Hilton wants to see what your children think the first hotel on the moon should look like.

We’d like all budding artists aged between 5-11 to create their most imaginative drawings for a chance to win a trip for the whole family to the Royal Observatory, complete with an overnight stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Greenwich.

DoubleTree by Hilton says: “As the world’s first global hotel company, Hilton has pioneered hospitality for over 100 years. In fact, Barron Hilton, son of founder Conrad Hilton, first dreamt of taking Hilton to the moon back in 1958. Now, new technology has brought his dream closer to reality and Hilton wants to hear from the next generation about what they think the first hotel on the moon should look like.
The more creative, the better, with extra points awarded for inventive use of the DoubleTree Cookie within the picture!”

Once your children have created their masterpieces, please post a photograph to this thread, alongside their age and a short description of what the hotel on the moon will feature.

One winner will win a family trip to the Royal Observatory, complete with an overnight stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Greenwich. All who post their child’s drawing on the thread below will also be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

You need to be a registered Mumsnetter to take part so if you are not and want to enter please register here.

Best of luck - we can’t wait to see your drawings!

Congrats to the winners.

Since it’s harder for children when they don’t win I will pop a ‘thanks for participating’ bag of sweets in an envelope for my boys to open when they get home. It usually works in making them feel better when they don’t win.

Firstly - thanks so much to all for the fantastic drawings, and apologies for the delay in announcing the winner.

Without further ado, congratulations to @Jenniferturkington's DD for their wonderful drawing of what the first hotel on the moon should look like.
Hilton DoubleTree were really impressed with all the entries, and wanted to leave a message for you all:
"We absolutely LOVED looking at the entries. The designs were clever, fun, and most importantly out-of-this-world! Congratulations to the winning family, we hope you have a fantastic break!"

Congratulations also to @Caillou for winning the voucher!

Thanks again to everyone and their DC's for taking part Smile

Hotel is on the planet macuna (?) the astronaut is really sleepy so she’s saying it’s time for bed. There is really pretty decorations inside the hotel which makes it special. The alien outside saying “hi” doesn’t work there he’s just going to the toilet Grin
We could go on at length as the imagination is endless!!!

It has to be shaped like a rocket apparently with a lift to take you to the top. It has two pods at the side for a restaurant and gym and floating rooms at the top (yes those circles at the top are round rooms lol)

This is my 11 year olds entry.
He says his hotel is very Space-ous!
Lots of excursions to planets (very expensive though)
Exclusive hotel - "Moonwalk your way to comfort"
Family Pets and robots are welcome.

I have another two boys to post - love that it kept them occupied doing something creative.

This is my daughters hotel on the moon, she has just turned 5.
She says ‘upstairs there is a bunk bed, window and toy unicorn so they have something to play with. Downstairs there is a table with cookies on, a chest of draws and a big door. There is an apple tree and flowers outside the hotel. You can see all of the planets and stars outside’

And here is my 5yr old sons Hotel on the moon. He was quiet specific about the lift being magnetised not electric powered and cookies being the 'buttons' different colours were for different species to stay together so that other space creatures could stay too.

So here is my 9yr old daughter's Hotel on the moon.
There is a separate entrance to exit to stop contamination, with places to doc on the all towers. The hotel is on wheels so that I can be moved to make the most of the solar energy. And there is a large cookie making area in the entrance area.

Dd age 6 drew this. She had great fun designing it and thinking about what needed to go in her dream moon hotel. I loved this activity as my dd is a reluctant reader and she pulled out her space books for research purposes- so thank you for that!

Her description: I put yellow, bright stars on it and it's built on big craters. There's a big green rocket on the first floor, the second floor has a chocolate cookie place and a milkshake bar- the milkshake has cookies mixed in it! Above, there is a big, yellow bouncy castle which has a soft ceiling and soft walls because they have to bounce off the walls. There is four medium size rooms and there is a bathroom with a toilet in with a tap.

This has been designed by DD aged 8.

All the hotel windows have hanging baskets with colourful flowers to brighten up the grey moon. There is a rocket landing pad on the roof which is how the guests arrive and depart. The windows are circular to match the shape of the moon and the planets. There is a curly slide which takes you outside from the top floor of the hotel to the moon so you can explore. The hotel is really large as so many people want to stay there.

This hotel is designed by my 6 year old DS.

He tells me it looks like a rocket so that it blends in with the space surroundings. It is on tall legs so that no moon dust gets into the hotel to stop it getting messy but there is a ladder for any visitors who want to have a walk on the moon.
There is only one window which is in the Hilton Cookie restaurant where the visitors can look out at the views but the rest of the time they can use virtual reality headsets! The aerial on top is so they get WiFi. The cross looking alien outside is there to visit the guests.
