As part of Disney’s long-term, global commitment to Healthy Living, Disney is launching Let’s Go week. They’d love to hear your top tips on how you get your whole family to be active together as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Disney say "the launch of Let’s Go week follows research which revealed the importance of doing activities as a family with over half of parents and children saying that being active with their family would make them want to be healthier. While the majority of children revealed they look to their families to inspire them to lead healthy and active lives. The research also revealed that time is the biggest barrier cited by parents and children preventing them from being more active as a family – whether that’s because of work, school or children’s busy schedules. Let’s Go week marks the beginning of a series of video tips that will run from 10th April to the summer, offering inspiration on quick and simple activities families can do together".

So how do you encourage your family to be active? What sort of things do you like to do together or do you encourage the kids to do or try? How do you keep them going with active things? Please share your top tips on this thread (and if possibly on social channels using #DisneyLetsGo) and you will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will win a £300 bundle of goodies from the Disney Store (including a Belle Soft Toy, a Buzz Lightyear Talking 12'' Figure and a Elsa From Frozen Animator Doll and lots more!)

For more information on Disney’s Let’s Go week and how you can use Disney’s characters as inspiration to encourage your family to be active, see the video below:

Trying to get them (1.5 and 3) out of the pram and walking. we live in London so don't drive much and walk everywhere. found they were in the pram a lot so trying to leave earlier and allow some time for them to scoot, walk, skip, run etc (whilst not getting run over!). And the park is our go to entertainment spot, come rain or shine. Jumping in puddles, pulling up dandelion sticks and hunting for conkers is year round fun.

We make sure everyone is home early on a Thursday night and have family exercise night - swimming, a long walk, etc. Combined with dinner together, it always feels like a mini-holiday!

My kids are very sporty and as my son has recently taken up athletics, he persuaded my to go running with him. At first I was really self-conscious as I had never done anything like this before but now I love it and even run home from work once a week.

In addition we walk everywhere instead of using cars/buses and we make a point of using stairs rather than lifts or escalators :)

I'm not really an outdoorsy person so I do find it hard to motivate us to get out and about when I don't enjoy the British wearher (cold). But I do find walks with my 3yo a lot easier now when we make them educational and look out for different things and concentrate less on the active part and more on our surroundings. Also we dance a lot in our pjs!

We have joined a family yoga session at school. There's a lovely atmosphere where children and parents all have the same opportunity and are treated equally. We have only been to two sessions so far but the children love it and are really good!

We live in London and there is so much to do! Walking around parks, going for mini 'hikes', cycling, swimming, sport-based holiday schemes in schools that are surprisingly cheap, afterschool clubs... My eldest does judo weekly and I am really keen for my children to try different sports such as tennis or archery. My youngest used to come with me to mum & toddler yoga classes (which were more fun than active, but still). I am not particularly sporty myself but try to promote an outdoorsy lifestyle generally, even if it's with gardening or trampolining. I would love for my family to have a healthier, more active lifestyle away from the city, but we make the most of living in London.

You have to lead by example, and teach them that fitness is for life.

As a family we all go swimming; we all go on a bike ride and we all go walking. They also see that I swim and go to the gym as part of my leisure time.

I am not sure if it is nurture v nature but I have never had to encourage my two boys to do activities, most of the time they can't sit still.

I think it helps that I had active parents too, so my role model used to go swimming whilst I had lessons not just sit on the side and watch. This kind of unsaid influence is important and I try to practice the same.

We walk to preschool and back 4 times a week which is good exercise as it's a mile in total. My DD loves the park so we go there if the weather is nice. If it's a rainy day we put the radio on and dance about to get moving.

Simple, ditch the car(s). We are a car-free family which means that the DC have grown up expecting to walk just about everywhere (within reason, otherwise we use public transport) - and they do.

There is a certain irony in parents ferrying their DC by car to play sports and be active. I can think of many children who never seem to walk anywhere!

I'm super unfit but trying to improve my fitness with my son as soon as weather is decent we are out and about walking. He has a trampoline and swings in the garden, which he loves.

I also go out and okay football with him - he's so active and I want to make sure he keeps it up so he doesn't have the weight issues that have plagued me all my life I also restrict TV and tablet time.

We walk pretty much everywhere as we are a family without a car. My girl walks to and fro school which is 30minutes each way. We look forward to the nicer weather as we live on the coast and enjoy long walks. It also helps that we all have fitbits so this motivates us more.

We just make sure that part of every day is spent outside. Whether it be a trip to the park or doing some gardening, fresh air and physical activity.

We try and encourage an healthy active lifestyle with my daughter. We go to parks and on nice walks whenever we can, we also go fishing quite a lot as my other half competes in fishing matches which has got our little girl crazy about it too. We are so lucky that we live in a lovely town full of fields and things to keep everyone active.

A LOT of activities and after school sports clubs are outside our budget but walking costs nothing - factor in a destination with a end of walk treat like a babycinno/caffeine for adults Wink or make the walk itself a treasure hunt to keep the kids interested.
We live in apartment so no garden encourages to go out more. We have no car so cycle everywhere. Invest in some outdoor toys at the beginning of the Summer so they want to walk to the park to play, £1 shop is fab for this and cannot recommend 99p parachute men enough. Most of all, lead by example

I have cycled for over 40 years and so my son was introduced to cycling from a young age. We walk to school every day without fail aswell as to the local shops and I take him swimming every sunday. He is depressingly fit.

Fitting it into the daily lifestyle - walking whenever feasible. Also making swimming fun - associations with holidays etc.

Scooting!! I have an adult scooter so I can scoot alongside my two; it's so much fun! Feels much safer now they aren't disappearing off into the distance

We also go swimming as often as we can- both children have lessons and I also swim at least once a week with each child too.

I am conscious though that I need to get fitter; my children are very active but part of that is me taking them to clubs (gymnastics, dance etc) so I am trying to build back in much more sport that we all do together. Reading this thread for inspiration Smile

I really do believe it is one of those things that you start as you mean to go on ! We are a large extended foster family and some may even say we are 'too active'. We have always believed in providing opportunities wherever possible and so make an effort to go to as many different places and experience as much as possible. We always join in - which I think is important (my husband is the oldest man on the skate park) Often the children are better than us at many activities which also helps to promote their confidence and self-esteem - we are not afraid of 'making fools of ourselves' and always have a go. This easter we had a toboggan building competition and raced our home made efforts down the shingle banks on the beach

We like setting up challanges in the garden e.g. hopscotch, relay races, assault course. Us adults join in too as that encourages the kids to get involved!
