As part of Disney’s long-term, global commitment to Healthy Living, Disney is launching Let’s Go week. They’d love to hear your top tips on how you get your whole family to be active together as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Disney say "the launch of Let’s Go week follows research which revealed the importance of doing activities as a family with over half of parents and children saying that being active with their family would make them want to be healthier. While the majority of children revealed they look to their families to inspire them to lead healthy and active lives. The research also revealed that time is the biggest barrier cited by parents and children preventing them from being more active as a family – whether that’s because of work, school or children’s busy schedules. Let’s Go week marks the beginning of a series of video tips that will run from 10th April to the summer, offering inspiration on quick and simple activities families can do together".

So how do you encourage your family to be active? What sort of things do you like to do together or do you encourage the kids to do or try? How do you keep them going with active things? Please share your top tips on this thread (and if possibly on social channels using #DisneyLetsGo) and you will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will win a £300 bundle of goodies from the Disney Store (including a Belle Soft Toy, a Buzz Lightyear Talking 12'' Figure and a Elsa From Frozen Animator Doll and lots more!)

For more information on Disney’s Let’s Go week and how you can use Disney’s characters as inspiration to encourage your family to be active, see the video below:

I bought bikes for the whole family and most weekends I try to think of new places we can go to on the bikes and then we explore. So if we're not cycling we're walking. If we go anywhere in the car I park further away than most people would which encourages a longer walk. And we tend to pick holidays that offer lots of activities, the kids get excited & sign up for everything going! Doing this from an early age has meant that they are naturally active & fit without even thinking about it.

We try and use the garden all year if we can and make up games that we can play together. Our kids are all a bit different (they have some disabilities) but if you work to their strengths we can find lots of things, from pretending to be pirates to being insects and seeing who can fly the highest on the trampoline!

On long walks, the Boys get treat foods they wouldn't usually get at home. Also they play lots of Zombie-PokemonGo-battle alien games on the walks.

I insisted on swimming lessons until age 10+, & 3 DC have gotten into swimming for fitness, partly I think because they can swim fairly well and because we can go to lanes together (I swim twice a week).

Husband does competitive cycling so tries to chivvy the kids to enter cycling events, too. Usually chocolate or cycling treats at events, the kids like that.

We do active travel: walk & cycle everywhere so that is our normal.

We encourage them to do active clubs/events when we see them advertised.

Not entirely successful strategies... the teens are pretty lazy!!

We like to go out a lot and often visit green spaces.
We go on bike rides and lots of walks.
We ll take balls, tennis racquets, frisbees and kites to the local parks to give us some variety.
I don't let a bit of rain affect our plans either. We all have Wellies and raincoats so happily go for walks and days out.

I walk my DDs to school and they get to have a run around and play in the park after school during the warmer months. During the colder months I try to get out walking with them at the weekend - we wrap up warm and explore the local nature parks, or take the bikes out. So long as they are enjoying nature and their local environment they don't realise they are keeping fit at the same time.

We are not very active however now the evenings are lighter we plan on getting out for a evening walk after tea. We live in a beautiful area and it's time to enjoy it!

Going out every weekend whether it's the beach, forest or just to the park to make sure they get some fresh air and exercise and they love it

We try to do active games, so it is exercise without them realising it. So for this morning's Easter egg hunt, i alternates between upstairs and downstairs for the clues. So lots of running up the stairs for all of us.

I dont think being super sporty and doing tonnes of activities is that important - we walk our dog every day to the park and round the park and back which is around a 3 mile walk - kids get to play in the play ground for bit at the same time so its fun.

We try to go swimming once a week because we like being in the water an swimming neither of the kids have had formal swimming lessons but they both enjoy doggy paddling and D has started to master swimming on his back too.

We also go out on the weekend to different things - we might take our bikes to a local lake for a ride, go to a local museum or for a wander down the beach and a splash.

For us its more about incorporating activities into our normal routine not going crazy.

H is started dance lessons soon which will be a once a week thing provided she enjoys them and D is part of a little rugby team which he loves. They are both once a week activities though as I wouldnt want them to have too much structured stuff as they wont have time to just be kids if they are over stretched

My son loves being outdoors, so we try to be out of much as possible! he is ruthless on a beach and I struggle to keep up with him. We often go for walks in the country side, and just go to explore! my son is the ultimate explorer so I never have any issues with him not being active enough!

Me & DH are quite active and between us play football, tennis, swim, run & walk so we try to lead by example.
The DC love walking, running & jumping (!) so keep themselves active by doing those! They also have bikes & scooters.
Once the DC are older we will be encouraging them to join clubs / get hobbies which are active & sporty - me & DH did so as children too.

We have family walks in the forests. We encourage the children to participate in after school sports clubs. They are learning to swim so we swim as a family. We also plan the day's "adventure" and every now and again we have a good old dance in the kitchen to cheee us all up!

We go on regular "bear hunts" in the park and we have a new puppy so we're regularly out and about with him.

Walking! Walk to & fro to school every day. Ours is quite a good walk. Kids never moan & are completely used to it. We go out hiking at the weekend. Kids in various sports clubs after school. We also go out cycling as a family!

We do a couple of things...
We make good use of our national trust membership and go for long walks and enjoy the outdoors. On the days that aren't so nice we put in music- either radio or music channel and start our very own dancing competition- my daughter loves music and dancing so it really gets us all up and moving and having fun

I make sure my Children are all active and we are always heading to our local park either on bikes or scooters. I have 5 children so I am sure I do look a sight when it is time to go home with me trying to entice the younger ones out of the playground, pushing a bike with a scooter over my shoulder trying to keep the older ones near by and the dog out of the river but hey ho if it is getting them out to use up their energy then the chaos is totally worth it!!!

A basic approach is that we walk everywhere instead of getting in a car to go relatively short distances. It is a good habit to acquire, and we don't give it a second thought when we set out on foot.

My DH is a keen bird and wildlife watcher and I especially enjoy wildflowers so these interests have got us all out and about on a regular basis, often visiting some beautiful nature reserves, and seeing amazing wildlife including otters, badgers, foxes, hedgehogs, snakes, red squirrels, as well as a ferry trip to Spain where we saw dolphins and even a whale in the distance.
So I think developing an outdoor lifestyle is important, and other things can grow from that.

We have had national trust family membership for 2 years running and it's a great way to get out and about and there is so many places to explore across the country.
Ideal if you enjoy holidaying and camping in the country like we do.

Be active yourself, lead by example

If you tell kids to go outside and play while you are inside on your phone then they won't last long, but if you go out with them and kick a ball around etc then they are happy to do it longer and no matter how long you are out there, they will moan when the fun has to stop so you can start tea

Take them to the park/beach/woods so that the distractions of home aren't there
