TalkTalk has asked us to find out how Mumsnetters enjoy their favourite TV.

Here’s what TalkTalk says, "Nothing beats sinking into the sofa, putting your feet up and switching off in front of your favourite TV show after a long day. But have you ever wondered what your TV favourites say about you?

We have created a fun quiz to help you find out. With YouView from TalkTalk now being Britain's fastest growing TV service, it's quickly becoming the home of family entertainment. We questioned families to uncover what the nation enjoys most about TV, and see how catch up, the ability to pause, rewind and record live TV, and instantly watch on demand movies, sport and kids programs have improved our viewing.

We found eight different types of TV viewers or 'TV Tribes' ranging from 'Family Guys' who enjoy nothing more than bringing the family together to watch their favourite programmes to 'Secret Viewers' who tell everyone they watch the likes of Newsnight but secretly revel in trash TV."

So, first off, take TalkTalk’s TV tribes quiz here and let us know which tribe you belong to. Do you think it’s accurate? How do you watch TV with your family? We'd love to hear about it so please post your comments below.

Everyone who shares their TV viewing habits on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £150 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

Another elitist here which is amusing (I so am not!) I do actually like watching tv but usually watch it whilst working (so not really watching properly). I rarely sit down to watch a programme I really like but that is more an issue of time to be honest.

According to this I'm the extrovert and have big TV parties and watch big sport events!! What a load of horse manure! I watch telly with my husband on the sofa with a cuppa or a beer. We watch stuff on netflix and prefer the US dramas you can binge watch - breaking bad, OITNB, House of Cards etc (looking for something good to watch of this ilk if anyone has suggestions by the way). When the kids are up its all their telly when its on. We also like movies and use netflix for that. We hardly watch any mainstream channels now and find BBC dramas very hammy or very violent against women (especially intelligent women: Luther was a big let down in this department). The only good thing from the BBC in the last few years has been Sherlock.

I am a me-timer. Yes in an ideal world I like to watch in peace without interruption although I'm happy to watch a joint programme with my DH (if he stays quiet during it)!

Apparently I'm a scret viewer which isn't accurate at all. I watch all sorts of crap on tv and in not ashamed to admit it ha!

I'm a 'me-timer' that enjoys quality dramas, watching box sets back-to-back and like to watch uninterrupted - sounds about write, I even wrote my thesis on quality U.S. television

I'm an Elitist, which is true. So much rubbish on TV that you have to be selective.

Me-timer!

It's true I never miss an episode of my fave shows, but I don't tend to download box-sets.

I watch TV to relax and unwind, plus I love learning new stuff (adore wildlife programmes and have done since I was little!)

I'm a 'me timer' according to this, which is how I used to watch television but since my ds has been born I tend to watch what the family is watching. However, given the chance I enjoy sitting on the sofa with some junk food watching box sets of high quality drama, but I prefer it to be with my dh so we can discuss what is happening.

I am a 'me timer'- I do enjoy TV at the end of the day to relax but often as hubby works till 8pm we don't eat till about 830 and I often don't get to sit down till about 10pm in the week. I have friends who sit down and watch tv from 7- 10 and they watch everything- I honestly don't know how they find the time!!!!

I'm an elitist too. It is pretty accurate I think, as I don't watch television that much (maybe two evenings a week) but what I do choose isn't always that high-brow. There wasn't an option for highly-unrealistic-detective-drama on the favourite shows list. If there had have been I might not have come out as so elite!

I got: the me timer: I like to watch TV on my own with no disturbances; I hate it when people interrupt. I download and binge on boxsets. I love watching TV in a separate room for a bit of peace and quiet. I often watch TV on a laptop or tablet with my headphones on and love to get stuck into a good TV drama, watching episodes back to back. I never miss an episode of my favourite shows.

Not true for me really. I didnt even tick aby of those boxes! I often watch whatever DP has on and we don't watch a lot of tele at all.
We only watch DVDs and Netflix or occasionally iplayer downstairs and sometimes put music channels on quietly upstairs in an evening. We prefer music and reading and chatting to TV.

If we get stuck into something like orange is the new black we will binge watch it over a few nights. I sometimes watch stuff when DP is at work just because I know it will be the talked about thing at work the next day!!

To be honest I could give up tv tomorrow and it wouldn't cause me a great distress. tho can i keep Netflix please

Apparently I'm The Extrovert.

I do occasionally organise events around something; a rugby match or the new series of Sherlock but it it's not how I usually operate. We watch TV most at the weekend, as a family or after the wean is in bed and we watch a lot of box sets, either on DVD or on something like Netflix.

I don't think the quiz result was accurate for me.

It says I'm a "Me Timer" who watches tv on their own in a separate room and watches downloaded box sets - I ticked all the opposite boxes to this!

Surprised to learn that I'm an elitist. I agree that I only watch a fraction of the amount of TV I used to - one-offs such as films/documentaries/maybe bit of reality if its compelling - but I wouldn't describe myself as a snob! I think the issue is that a lot of the terrestrial stuff is too boring to watch regularly, and I can't afford to subscribe or pay per view.

Sorry for posting here but I am trying every which way to get someone from Talk Talk to ring me.

I took part in the Mumsnet talk talk tv trial am now being charged £35 a month for a package I don't want and never asked to continue.
i have tried to get this resolved with Talk Talk
I have given feedback about my last phone conversation and have copied and pasted my email.
I am trying to contact Talk Talk without having to waste another 25 minutes on the phone so am posting here in desperation.

I eventually got through to someone, I could hear talking but no-one talking to me so after saying hello a hundred times eventually had to hang up and start again.
I then got through to someone else and he couldn't help so put me on hold then came back and said he was putting me on hold again, I asked could someone please ring me back and was told no. I then got put through to someone else, she said she was going to put me on hold, again I asked if someone could ring me back, was told no. I then got cut off by Talk Talk not me and surprise, surprise no one rang me back. I was on the phone for 25 minutes in total and the problem was not resolved. I initially did live chat but was told I had to ring up. I really don't have the time to waste keep ringing up.
The reason I rang is I am being charged for a package I never wanted or agreed to. I was asked through Mumsnet to take part in a free trial. I was told I would not have to carry on after the trial had finished but the package has continued and I wasn't asked. I pay for Sky Tv so there is no way I want to pay for another subscription. I want my last bill refunding and the Tv package cancelling. It is totally unacceptable that I am having to spend so much time sorting this problem out.
I feel so completely disheartened that I will be looking for a new internet and phone provider.

I am the Extrovert Smile

It is telling me that I watch TV with my friends and often organise social events around the television. I like to host parties for TV events such as sporting finals or big Saturday night TV shows and have a huge screen at the centre of the living room. It is important to me that I have the best TV and sound equipment I can buy. I think TV is better than going to the cinema. I don’t mind paying for premium channels and pay-per-view TV events. 3% of people belong to this TV Tribe

I disagree with this, I watch TV with my family. However we DO have a huge screen but that is mostly DHs choice (not mine). I would not pay for a pay-per-view event.

I do watch programmes that I enjoy like Modern Family and Breaking Bad with DH but programmes like the Sewing Bee or GBBO I watch alone as he would rather watch something else.

I got the 'me timer' which is pretty accurate. I don't get to watch TV as much as I used to because of having a toddler, but I do enjoy settling down to watch something on catch up after he's gone to bed!

Just finished Homeland series 3 (months after it aired!) and it was nice to be able to watch a few episodes in one go rather than watching one episode a week Smile (even if I did read a spoiler by mistake - it was in the title of an article on my news app Sad)

I'm a me timer too. I'm not sure it's accurate all the time - I like to watch my trashy brain-fluff programmes on my own, but my favourite tv watching is a drama series with the OH, when we will cane a box set together. I never watch with headphones on, and I'm a bit lax about keeping up with every episode of a favourite show.

I'm a me timer. Seems very accurate. I hardly get to watch tv, maybe an hour a week if im lucky so theyre right that i do watch it alone to relax. I do love a good box set or a good tv drama, got to get stuck in!

I got the Me timer, which couldn't be further from the truth. I've never downloaded or binged on a box set in my life and I never watch TV on a laptop or tablet and I don't watch TV on my own. I tend to watch things nobody has heard of and enjoy the odd foreign language drama and a bit of Japanese horror!

Im an elitist apparently... the description doesn't really describe me though. The tv is always on in the background and I don't really learn new stuff from watching tv but its true that I never watch tv for the sake of it, I only watch things I like and I hate reality and soaps.

Hopezibah · 16/03/2014 22:22

I came up as Secret Viewer - which i don't think is that accurate. I think i'm probably more the elitist tribe.

during the day time i don't get a say - it is the kids that choose all the way but I didn't really include that in the quiz as I thought more about when i'm watching TV in the evenings.

I would rather spend a night in in front of the TV than go out with friends. I like watching programmes together with hubby.
