Jungle Memory

My teen daughter has poor working memory and this affects her Maths and reading, so I've subscribed to an 8 wk package of Jungle Memory.

According to its stats my daughter's working memory is at the bottom 12% for the Quicksand game, bottom 15% for the Codebreaker game, and bottom 25% for the River Crossing game. But it says her working memory has improved by about 500% since starting this game 3 days ago.

I'd like to know what to make of these stats as well as whether Jungle Memory is meant to be used as a one off thing, meaning once the 8 weeks are up, that's it and that's the most it can do for her working memory and it will not make a jot of difference if she continues to play those games after 8 weeks.

Or is it something that, if I continue to purchase 8 week packages for her over time and she continues to play it regularly (almost daily), her working memory will continue to improve?

I've tried emailing Jungle Memory but they did not respond 😐 It doesn't bother me that much as long as money has been taken and the program works as it should! In any case I think opinions from other parents and educational specialists about the use of this software would be very useful too.

My daughter is nearly 14 and I'm considering the pros and cons of keeping her in mainstream ed (where she struggles a bit and is going to be a C or D grade student at GCSE even though she does do her homework and is a shy, quiet and compliant child in general)... the other option is to go to a 14-16 college BTEC course that includes Maths and English quals (they will have her do functional skills if she is not up to GCSE ability)... and I do suspect BTECs would be better suited for her. But to keep her options open (since she is still uncertain what type of occupation she wants in future) GCSEs are best, but I'm wondering if Jungle Memory would be able to make a big enough difference to help her secure GCSE passes (she needs a C in 5 subjects at least to be able to get into any college level 3 BTECs post 16)...

Would welcome any opinions on the software itself, whether we should keep subscribing after the initial 8 wks package, and perhaps any advice on what best to do wrt her future.

I posted a question on 17 April asking for help with Jungle Memory and Chrome book - where Adobe Flash obviously is not a functioning part of its set up. How do other folks manage to Play Jungle Memory on a device like this?
I'd really appreciate some advice - help - any kind of a way forward with this. Its months now and still the child in the family who most needs help - isnt accessing any of it!

Does anyone use Chrome Book to run Jungle Memory? Obviously Adobe Flash player is no longer supported or used... how do you get round this so that you can run the programme? Based in UK - any advice or help - running programme on a NEW LENOVO - IdeaPad 3i 14" Chromebook

Hi. I didn't know what jungle memory was either and only clicked today because I feel able today to properly read and post.

Sorry you feel unsupported - I do empathise with that.

Could you speak to a careers advisor at school or whatever la advise on local offer. I'd ask senco to meet with yiu too to discuss what support DD is likely to need whatever route she takes.

An ed psych assessment would probably be beneficial to look at the whole picture - there is likely other things affecting her if she has good and bad days.

I was ok told you couldn't improve working memory - but you could work on skills to improve memory and processing information.

To be honest I'm not feeling very good at the moment. I feel like I'm being judged for what I'm feeling as genuine worry and concern for my daughter's well-being. She isn't happy at the moment the way things are going, used to suffer from selective mutism and now shows no interest in school work nor has any real stable friendships. I thought btecs might lessen the problems for her as they aren't as exam focused and aren't as academic. However I do know that her social difficulties might still persist. Anyway its fine if no one can empathise about my predicament. I'll just have to look elsewhere.

She gets Cs and Ds on good days. That's the worrying bit. On bad days she will fail
