Lone Parent skiing holidays

I'm new to Mumsnet, this is my second post...Accidentally posted in the long-haul section...this might be a better option however! I'm a single mother to a seven year old and keen to go skiing with her in February half term next year. None of my friends or family are organised enough to plan that far ahead and I want to book soon. This will be dd's first ski trip, I've been skiing 3 times before but years ago. I've come across a website for lone parents, Mango holidays, that specialise in holidays for single parents (mums and dads). They have a ski trip to Romania in Feb half term. I was wondering if anyone had travelled with them before? I like the idea of having adult company and that dd will have children to play with after skiing. Anyone know anything about them?

If not, have any other lone parents been skiing with the DCs? How did you find the social element? Was it easy to meet others? Any companies you'd recommend?

Thanks!

Thanks for all the advice! I think I'm going to bite the bullet and take DD in February half term to Romania with Mango holidays. It's very good value for the week and good for beginners like her too. Will let you know how we get on!

Ive been with Esprit holidays on my own with DD and was pretty good also went this yr with Ski activity to La Tania - fantastic - all I can say is dont book up leave it to last minute - many chalets have 1 spare room going that they will knowck down in price (strat looking month before you want to go) consider going out week before half term (much much cheaper quiter ( esp ski school /slopes queues in restraunts etc) if you book last minute the holiday company will also tell you how many kids ages and sex are in chalet as well so you can make a judgement on whether or not it would suit. if you book in advance you run the risk of ending up with say a couple of families who have booked to go together and you may feel a little excluded and very much like the lone parent ( that happened this yr but then again the ex had just walked out on us both 3 weeks prior to our ski trip so was very raw anyway) all in all much better to book late - of course you can see how much snow there is in resort as well.......... Enjoy - Im looking to go 1st week in Feb and maybe with my mate another dingle mum - let me know if you want to join us I like France for skiing by the way my dd is 7yr and a great little skiier - blacks moghuls etc etc (Im not dont worry!)

My dh went skiing with dd a couple of years ago when I couldn't go one year. He went with Esprit and found the social aspect of it good. With Esprit they tend to sit you round one or two big tables for evening meals and everyone chats to each other. But he was skiing by himself every day - which he prefered anyway so wasn't a problem.

Other years when I have been with him there have sometimes been a single parent there - again this is with Esprit.
