could we have a cake topic, for all things sugarcraft. There's a big chat thread right now, full of lovely people who spend hours crafting odd things out of fondant icing (me, I've just made a scale model of a human kidney for a urologist friend)...

:o pretty please? Thanks

Thank you! Flowers

blueberryboybait - if you're talking about the cake quiche, I started it in chat here it is. It went a bit quiet though.

How does pinning pictures to the mumsnetters' cakes board on Pinterest work?

There was once a baking quiche - I have lost it and can't find it anywhere :( If it was in a Baking section I could find it very easily :o

No, I meant one topic for Baking and one topic for everything else, which could be called Cooking.

Report
TheAvocadoOfWisdom · 15/04/2012 20:57

Noooooo! not cooking. I don't want my Victoria Sponges tainted with casseroling tips next door. Baking. Baking. Cake. Cake. Cake.

I'd go for a Baking topic, with food and recipes combined into one (maybe just call it Cooking).

Report
wem · 12/04/2012 09:06

I did. Lots of lovely people came to talk to me about cake but it fizzled out. It's a recent obsession for me and it's possible, just possible, that people don't want to talk about it quite as much as me Grin

You could start a thread in Food called "Sugarcraft chat over here" and see if your fellow sugary craftey people join you?

Report
wem · 12/04/2012 08:43

Hmmm, I see what you mean. I think some people think that because there are so many that there should be a specific place to pit every question, but if something could go in either food or recipes then just pick one!

I'm still hankering after a dedicated sugarcraft topic, but I guess there are other forums out there for that.

BusinessTrills · 11/04/2012 11:25

I wouldn't get rid of topics, I'd merge them.

Food and Recipes, for example. Instead of "Food" and "Recipes" we could have "Food and Recipes".

I have seen lots of complaints of "there are too many topics" and "it is too confusing to know where to put things" and "xxx topic doesn't get much traffic".

Trills, how does having many topics bother you? Which ones would you get rid of? How do you think the people who post in those topics would feel about that? It helps to narrow things if you are searching for a particular question that would return loads of results otherwise, e.g. How long does cake last?

Baking topic would be lovely thank you :)

Baking topic great idea.

But Agree with trills - please get rid of the stupid topics, there's far too many

Report
BusinessTrills · 11/04/2012 10:16

Please no more topics until you have a topic tidy-up. Please?
