If so I’m in.

DS (my pfb) will be going into year 11. Mocks after half term. Crossing my fingers for him - needs average point score of 6.5 (across all 10 subjects) to stay for 6th Form.

Anyone else?

More mocks in February here. DD2 now has a full schedule of available revision classes and basically she needs a time turner - but she's doing one every day after school except Fridays and every lunchtime when she isn't on prefect duty, focusing on sciences and maths where there's most improvement to be had. She's requested practice questions from her teachers and teachers are happy to mark them - she's very, very motivated. Fortunately she is also taking breaks and spending time with her gf.

Just come out of mocks here, results trickling in. A bit of a nightmare time for everyone...

Is it normal, and how do I cope with it??, for DCs to sleep for only 4 hours a night and be too nervous to eat during exams??

That's the coping, revision method my DD took during her mocks Hmm

She knows a lot of it (I feel), but felt compelled to cram and study late into the night. Wake tired and unwilling to eat breakfast; school and the mocks; then home and crash for a long nap in the early evening before dinner and then studying late into the night again.

I can't see her sustaining that pattern during the real exams - 4 weeks. Is there anything I can do to help her? I'm at my wit's end!

Sorry, I've skipped a big chunk of the middle of this thread, maybe I've missed this chat already...

DS had a results day today and results up on homework system they use. One good result higher than expected and key subjects about where I'd expect but some rather shocking 3's too, including one he wants to do at A'level. Focusing on the one he did well on and hoping this will help him see how much work he needs to put in and where he needs to focus. A bit worrying though!

They announce mock results in an assembly? I would not like that. DD has classics back today. She missed an entire page of questions (22marks) 😱

How do you feel about that Mrsr8 ?

myrtle - the positive thing about missing an entire page is it almost certainly will not happen in her actual exam. They learn quickly from mistakes and blunders in mocks.

Whoop a better than expected v good result here for history. DD had her confidence knocked in history last year and didn't gel with new history teacher. But she's worked so hard and has knocked it out the park in mocks. Am so pleased for her as other exams haven't gone as well as she was hoping!

Whoop whoop Myrtle - well done to DD.

I have just sent DH with DD to parents evening tonight. I have done all the others, so I thought it was about time he put in some effort Wink. TBF he works away a lot, and doesn't get much feedback from either DD or teachers, which I get every day, so it will be a nice daddy/daughter evening. They are going for pizza after - in the snow!

Mock results all in now. I’m massively proud of DS1. He got 9 in Maths, physics and chemistry, 8 in computing, 7 in French, Biology and history and 6 in German, English language and English lit 😊

Missing a page from the exam paper during mocks by accident; better now than in the real exams. Ha ha, unlike you are like my dc who will happily make this same mistake more than once.

Well we now have all results from the mocks, and if DS can repeat those in the real thing he will get into the dreaded sixth form.
998887776 (looks like a telephone number this way Smile).
9- maths
9- chemistry (the only nine in any science subject)
8- biology
8 physics
8 geography (the only 8 in his class, and no 9s, class as a whole not doing very well, had poor teaching up until this year, geography teacher has scheduled extra interventions, he reckons he only got the 8 because he had some 1-1s with her during study leave, where others stayed at home)
7- French (we are over the moon - it was a 4 in February last year!)
7- English language (by one mark, so could easily be a 6)
7 - English literature (strong poetry, awful Macbeth)
6 - Art (although DS says that is not necessarily a true grade, teacher apparently got all 9-7 last year for her classes and only gave 6 and below to his class in the mocks, not sure about the other class, he and one other got the two 6s in the class)

In DS's school the parents evening in Year 11 is in January (ie next week) and the theory is that they get their mock results right before the parents evening (they always put up on My Child at School us a report just before parents evening ,whether it is Year 7 or Year 11, and whatever time it is during the year, but mostly it doesn't tell us that much that is useful, but this time it is supposed to contain their mock results, and be the first time they see them). However the DC have been bugging their teachers so much (and most of them don't need to be bugged) that the teachers have all told them, so the parents will only be in for a surprise/shock if their DC don't communicate with them. As this is our only set of mocks, I think it is now going to be about working for the real thing! I am sure that we are going to be told that the mocks were easy and he has to work harder for the real thing, while those who didn't do so well will be told something different. Don't think it is going to be public though, probably like every parents evening where you rush from teacher to teacher and stand in the queues for the teachers you want to see.

Lovely twirl destiel still some results to come here but DD has had a taster A-level day this week and very much enjoyed it. One of her teachers reported back to her that one of her a-level taster sessions had commented how impressed they were with her contribution so thats a lovely boost. I do think DD will be hopefully flourish at A-level - I think the in-depth study of chosen subjects will see her blossom in a way that science just doesn't do Grin

We had a solid set of results which, given the very very minimal revision ds actually did and some of the unhelpful doomy predictions from his teachers over the last couple of years Hmm, are a pleasing foundation for the Real Thing.

I shan't be posting numbers, but they were all passes, some of them very decent, and a couple of nice surprises. I feel marginally less panicky now Grin
