We have a very large family, with 11 aunts and uncles, at the last count, 40-something cousins and about 12 second cousins. Anyway, my uncle and his GF split up 7 or 8 years ago, when my cousin was 2. I have seen the mum at the school a few times but never seen my cousin. Today I saw her, she is 10 and so big, she looks so much like the rest of the family, you can tell she is related. She doesn't know who I am or that my DC are her second cousins. I find it sad that we have such a large family, yet so many of us have no idea what each other look like..

I have 8 or 9 cousins, some of which I haven't seen in well over 15 years. I went to visit my grandparents a few months ago and one of my cousins turned up and we didn't have anything to say to each other, even though we are both now married with kids born within a month of each other!
Just because they are family doesn't mean they have to be my friends....

I have three cousins that I know. I like seeing them. My only cousin that I feel close to lives in New Zealand, damn the chap.

I only have 3 cousins and I rarely even see them, years since I saw two of them. I am in fact closer to my second cousins (not through those cousins). Just the way these things work out.

I think that's just what happens with very big families. Maybe you could organise some family reunions?
