Sanderson dandelion clocks in John Lewis

We are redecorating the sitting room.

DH and I both really liked this print when we saw it last year and thought we would use it for curtains now we are redecorating.

However now it seems to be EVERYWHERE. We are buying a sofa from John Lewis too and I worry slightly that it is already a bit ubiquitous and we will just look like a window display.

Or is it just because I have noticed it and now notice everywhere.

Your thoughts please

Ohhh love that sofa! I liked that wallpaper too but dh doesn't. Agree you see it everywhere now. I like these wallpapers by miss print

I like insect wallpaper by Vivienne Westwood too. And lace. But all out of my price range....

Kohti is a similar style - a good alternative I think.

oops, sorry just seen it's fabric! Tbh if you both love it just get the Dandelion clocks fabric. Agree with your dh - who cares what other people think?

I'm not very good at interior design Blush

What if we had plain blinds, maybe the same colour as the sofa or a darker green, and then could have a dandelion cushion, along with several other cushions.

That way DH would be happy and I wouldn't be overruling him with a different pattern Wink

Yes a dandelion print cushion or two would be fine as you could easily change it. I didn't want to waste all that money & have to persuade DH to paint over it just because I changed my mind again it was ubiquitous!

I don't like the dandelion clocks design, popular or not. Reminds me of the sort of design we got on maths text books in the late 60s/early 70s

oh well, i am obviously a sheep, but i like the dandelion clocks and think a roman blind with the sofa would look lovely.

We bought a blind last year, when it was the first thing to come out, as I've always liked midcentury stuff and the colours matched our kitchen perfectly. It's now so ubiquitous that I'm glad to be leaving it behind when we move house.

It's like that late 90s latin print on red velvety fabric that John Lewis did as well; I quite liked that for about 10 min, then that was everywhere for years and years...

UrsulaBuffay - have you thought of having a go at making your own roman blinds? Honestly they're dead easy - if you can stitch a seam you can make roman blinds.

onesandwichshort, I think that's what would have happened to us except we've only just got round to redecorating.

I've just checked JL website and their are 4 PAGES of the stuff. May placate him with a cushion, lampshade and a teapot Grin

I think it's also slightly ridiculous to spend so much money on made to measure curtains when the fabric is so ubiquitous. Maybe as well just buy the readymade ones (except they don't fit our massive windows)

Oh, and I've just clicked on your sofa link and am v jealous, as that is just the one I wanted too, and in that colour!

But, if you are going to have a green sofa, you need a bit of contrast rather than more greeny-yallery stuff. I'd go for something like the one you linked to further up - a bit of red (and a couple more plain red cushions) would be lovely). And yes, plain blinds I think.

If you want a truly fantastic cushion/blind though, take a peek at the St Judes fabrics they're sort of retro but also very modern. When I get that sofa, I will have this cushion on it, but this is more 50s.

Daisy yes that is what we are going to do-with some help from family as have never done it before! Just need to find the perfect fabric now, kitchen is walnut (not real lolz) so a nice green should go well. Thinking of going to Dunelm Mill they have a lot of fabric stock.

I think you should go for something neutral or classic if you can't afford to change it in a few yrs...but then I do get bored easily.
I have neutral ikea sofas ,change the covers regularly . Neutral cream curtains. I change cushions/throws regularly when I get sick of them . At the moment i am contemplating a rug change too.

Oh not the dandelion clocks - they really are everywhere. I wouldn't. Love some of those St Judes fabrics that onesandwich linked to. The dandelion one on there is really nice, and the hedgerow one would look nice with the sofa (which is gorgeous, btw). I agree that it really is the easiest thing to make roman blinds if you know your way round a sewing machine. Dead simple. You can often pick up lovely ends of rolls on Ebay too. I got some gorgeous fabric for my kitchen blind - lovely heavy linen, and the seller ended up giving me twice as much because they found a tiny flaw on the end of roll piece I'd bought, so wanted to make sure I had enough for my project.

Right - I've ordered some St Jude fabric samples, which look lovely, Hedgerow especially.

I think it's actually the colour combinations I like best so I think maybe, I should have plain blinds in either the grey or the light blue, as the sofa already covers off the green. Then we can throw in some dandelion cushions and it will all go together.

Oh- so many lovely fabrics on this thread!

I really love that sofa MB- I keep suggesting to DH we need to replace ours with it, but we don't really

Anyway, I like Lumimarja from Marimekko.
I think this Keisarinna is very very pretty.
I am a sucker for anything with a ginko on it.

Or Rautasänky is really bold!

That sounds fab, I'm a bit envious too - and pleased you like St Judes too, they ought to be better known as they are such wonderful fabrics.
