Anyone had a negative pregnancy test but were actually pregnant?

My period was due last Friday and have always been on the dot since I was 11! The only one I have ever missed resulted in dd born last October.

I have done two clearblue digital tests and they say 'not pregnant' - on Saturday and Monday. I do feel a bit sicky (but this could be fear) but I don't have any breast tenderness like I did last time. My periods returned in January and have been regular and I'm not breastfeeding.

I just don't understand where my period is!

It wouldn't be the end of the world if I was pregnant, but I intended to wait until next year.

Any advice or views? TIA

My cycle is about 36 days (give or take, sometimes 34, others 37, the longest was 39 days). I gave birth to my DS 7 months ago, and since he was 2 months old I had my periods every month. This month my period vanished, it's been missing for a week and half and I've been feeling mood swings, tiredness, more visits to the toilet, breast tenderness and I had lower back cramps for days, however not a single drop of blood, and my discharge comes clear as water. I bought a pack of 2 brandless pregnancy cheap tests and they came back negative, not even fainted positive. Then days later I bought a pack of 2 clearblue tests and they both came negative as well. I'm about to call the doctor to book a blood test or something, I think I'm pregnant but the test results are confusing me.

Hi everyone! I came off contraception in Feb this year and me and my boyfriend have been ttc since. I ovulated 24 days ago.. I had spotting 5 days after ovulation and thought this could be implantation bleeding. I took a HPT and it came up negative. I have since taken 2 more and they have both been negative too...

I went to the docs on Wednesday and was told they couldn’t blood test me yet and that they would do a normal pregnancy test. This also came up negative so I accepted that. I have now had spotting again 3 weeks after my first spotting and I’m so confused.

Has this happened to anyone else? I think I will go back to docs next week and ask for blood test to be done!

Hello, just a heads up that this thread hasn't been posted on for over a year. So - we've pulled together information and comments from Mumsnetters about pregnancy tests, over here.

Better than I was now that sickness has improved! It took me a while to get used to it (esp as I was still exclusively bf when I got pg!) but I'm really really pleased now. I'm 37 so there's no point hanging around.....

So many of my friends seem to be having problems getting pg and I know we are really lucky. I know it'll be really hard but I keep telling myself that whatever the age gap no.2 would be hard.

My m-i-l accused us of being stupid and careless so we have fallen out with her big time. TBH, that suits me fine because she's an old witch!!

Piglit - how are you coping! I thought I was having a close age gap!

Been to the drs this morning and am def pregnant. Helpfully said as he looked at dd (nearly 8 months) you may be a bit more tired than last time - really!

Told dp last night (after he had been to the pub watching Liverpool's victory) and he is absolutely delighted so I feel even more calm now - am quite excited - but it is early days!

Feeling calmer now.

I have joined the January 2006 antenatal club - I didn't use mumsnet when I was pregnant with dd so this is my first on-line antenatal club.

I'm going to be starting lots of new threads to get all the advice and help from you lot that I should have had when I was pregnant with dd.

My first pregnancy wasn't confirmed until I was 15weeks gone as the pregnancy tests were constantly negative. It was the doctor who confirmed it for me through a blood test. I must have spent 30pound on preg tests. Then on my second pregnancy I had four neg tests which drove me mad as I def thought I was preg and I had bought all the usual clear blue, predictor etc which were all neg and finally it was confirmed at 8 weeks through another blood test. It was something to do with my hormones that preg couldn't be detected through the tests.
