Help - ZZZZZZZZZ

Hello all! - I'm currently 7+6 weeks and have been off from work for a week with another week to go. The time off was planned before I found out I was pregnant but it has been so needed. I have literally slept day and night for the last 10 days. I have been out a handful of times and come home absolutely exhausted. I have tried to drink more fluids, fruit and veg but all my body wants to do is sleep!

I'm always ridiculously tired! 😭

Luckily I have another week off but I'm worried I'll go back to work feeling the same and just crash!

Any tips?

I can't remember exactly but it was about 6 weeks or so. We thought I was 9 weeks at the appointment (turned out I was only 7 but still). I had to ring the hospital a couple of times and got a well meaning MW basically give me a pat on the head and told me to be patient!

@Bobbiepin that's a good idea! For my doctors appointment I said I had a sore throats and claimed my prescription for folic acid was actually antibiotics for a bad throat - a large lie if you ask me but I didn't know what else to say!

How long did it take for your booking appointment to come through out of curiosity?

@effs I told everyone at work that I was anaemic. It explained the tiredness and the doctors visits. Being anaemic isn't out the ordinary for me so people just accepted it (and lots of my colleagues were super lovely about it!) I would recommend telling one person you trust at work, so they can keep an eye out for you. I told my HR department at 8 weeks as I needed time off for my booking appointment and they were amazing. A couple of times they even sent me home to nap for a couple of hours and I came back in after.

I feel exactly the same, absolutely shattered and can't stop yawning. I work from home and it's so tempting to nip back to bed for a nap but have too much to do.

No advice but it does get a bit easier.. rest while you can.
You certainly have empathy from me.

@Lillygreen - yes you are right! -very very happy to be expecting- I don't know how I can moan when you have a 8 month old!!

@Bobbiepin - thanks so much - really good advice- all I have the energy to do is order a takeaway but I'm going to try some home cooked meals and put them in the freezer on top of all the fruit and veg snacking!

@effs - me too- only my other half knows I'm pregnant until week 12/13 we are planning. So I'm hoping people don't notice too or think I'm lazy lol!

Thanks all xxx

Unfortunately this is part of the first trimester. I was the same was literally falling asleep anytime I had the chance and was asleep by 7on in the evenings. The second trimester gets alot better! X

I felt the same and struggled to stay awake at work at times. Whenever I was at home and I could nap or sleep I did.

It did go away though and I have more energy now so you just need to plod on through till your second trimester.

P.s. it gets so much better in the second trimester. So just see it as a short term thing xx

hungryhass I'm a week behind you and feeling exactly the same. It's so so hard isn't it. Although I have an 8 month old who doesn't let me sleep! (I am however incredibly happy and grateful to be pregnant Smile )

I think bobbiepin has some great advice. Eating well is so important now, so when you get a burst of energy, could you try and make some home made freezable meals?

I'm finding I have to do this anyway for my DS (his gets blended of course!)

In terms of practical advice, have stuff really organised, like clothes laid out in the morning etc so you can sleep in as late as possible and have a little nap when you get in from work. It can be tempting to want to sleep all the time but try not to skip meals and stay hydrated. You'll need to drink more than you did before. If you are normally responsible for cooking dinner and there's no one else to do it, get lazy with one pot meals and pre chopped veg. I know some women find exercise can help (I couldn't stop throwing up long enough to consider it) but don't beat yourself up if you don't get to the gym!

Eat what you can, know its normal and look forward to the 2nd trimester. Congratulations, you'll never not be tired again!

I have no idea of how to help but I'm feeling exactly the same at 6 weeks. I nipped out to do a small shop earlier and had to have an hour long nap before I could do anything!

As people don't know I'm yet pregnant apart from my partner I'm worried they will all see me as lazy but I just can't muster any energy.
