Had Leos 1 year check today. He is 76cms and 21lb 11oz. He climbed all over the furniture and was a right little monkey while the HV was here, she said he displayed beautifully his achievement of his developmental milestones

Ey up. I've always been too scared to post on the April 07 babies/post natal threads ... too many posts... nobody will know me... oh well... here goes.

DD2 is Esme Bluebell (8lb 6oz) and she'll be 1 on April 6th - it was Good Friday last year!

The year has been a rollercoaster (she was unplanned and a bit of a shock surprise) but we're just getting to the good part. She's nearly walking, sorta talking and generally being jolly amusing all day.

Here's to the next 12 months!

Well finally found the time to post on here!

My precious baby girl is 1 today, and I cannot believe time has flown by so fast.

It just doesn't seem like a year ago........

For those of you who don't know, Molly was born in our bath while dh went downstairs to let the mw in as the door was locked That just about sums up our organisational skills I was glad to see she was a girl as I knew dh was hoping for a girl - I actually had no preference! Then it was over to dh and her brothers and sister (who was extremely pleased to finally have a sister!) to dress her and look after her while I got out of the bath! I think it was a day we will all remember!

Molly will probably be our last baby, and she is a real joy. She thinks she is boss and has everyone wrapped around her little finger! She rarely cries, as she never has to - there is always someone there for her!

She now has 4 teeth, commando crawls like a demon and walks with a walker, or holding a hand or onto furniture, so it won't be long before she takes her first steps......

She says Mummum, Dada, Nan nan, Bye, OUT (while pointing furiously to the dog and waves and blows kisses and is just such a little treasure.

It is so lovely to see my little baby becoming a little person, but it makes me sad sometimes too, as it is happening so fast and if I could just keep things as they are atm I think it would be lovely!

Meeting all of you lot because of Molly has been great, and I hope we will all remain friends for many more milestone together. xxx

This time last year I was thinking that my baby just didn't want to come out of course the date my little man choose for his birthday was friday 13th, along with many other babies on our thread. I had my first contraction whilst mning, can't remember who was online at the time I do remember checking the thread after having Harry and realising that I could've been labour buddies with POTC but I thought no one'd be around so I started off my labour watching House of Elliot and trying to stop my leaking waters going on my sofas

Fast forward a year..........

Although Harry's brithday isn't until tomorrow we had his party today, it was manic but fun and we all had a great time. My little man has changed so much in a year. He is already walking, he falls quite alot too Harry is a happy soul and is always smiling(and being sick) he has only 2 teeth, but managed to get his first fat lip a few weeks ago whlist trying to walk at my sil's house he looked so cute and pouty though He doesn't say anything yet just the usual noises, but he can clap and wave hello/goodbye and actually having a dd that can talk for England i'm enjoying the peace of a non talking child

I should also mention how much dd and ds adore each other. It's so cute watching ds's little face light up when dd appears When dd is upset she always wants a cuddle from her brother, in a few years he might actually want to cuddle her back I am very aware that as time goes on the mutual love may peeter out so i'm trying to take it all in whilst it lasts

I want to thank all of you for sharing the pregnancy, birth and first year of ds' life with me and hope that it continues for a long time to come I find the support of mn invaluable. Whatever the question someone will offer their advice. I'm glad I found you all

I gave birth to my first child George 367 days ago.

My labour was short and mercifully straightforward - my dh has a terrible medical phobia, he had counselling throughout my pregnancy to enable him to be there. He did fantastically well, but I think complications or intervention would have had him fainting/throwing up/both. I had the water birth I planned and will remember until my dying day the sight of by new baby calmly blinking and looking around as I lifted him above the water. Everybody that felt the need to guess the sex had guessed "girl" (my gran even knitted a pink blanket) I was genuinely surprised to see that my child had a willy!

My time on maternity leave was very special. Getting to grips with being a parent and being able to watch my son find wonder in every aspect of life is something I will treasure. The world is a more fascinating place when you consider it through a child's eyes.

George and I were able to spend a lot of time with his grandparents and great-grandparents in the North East. This was particularly important to my parents, who were nursing my gran through terminal cancer. She passed away between Christmas and New Year - I was so pleased that she got a lot of joy from seeing George, however sick, she got she would light up when she saw "the bairn"

George has a small amount of very white blonde hair and BIG blue eyes. He has a ready smile and flirts with everyone; shop assistants, waitresses, old ladies in the supermarket. He is very affectionate and sociable. His transition in January from SAHB to 3 days a week at nursery was a breeze, he loves to play and potter around.

At a year old he has six teeth, loves to be on his feet and cruises round the furniture at astonishing speeds, he toddles round with his wooden truck and has almost found the confidence to try an independent step. I can already imagine him toddling round in the summer. He loves animals: "woof" came shortly after "dada" as his first recognisable sounds. He likes to wiggle his bum to any kind of music and loves to bang his drum and shake his maracas.

I love his kisses and cuddles and his smile lightens my heart and brightens my day without fail.

Thanks to the April '07 mummies for bringing companionship, support, humour, warmth, advice and reassurance to the last 12 months. It's been a privilege to get to know you all

Ok - birth story time
This time last year I was waking up from a nap and realising that I had in fact been contracting for a while and that our long-planned and awaited dc3 was shortly to arrive. So I lumbered downstairs and told dh - who was working from home. Did the girls tea and packed them off to bed. I remember having a particularly nasty contraction with the 'storymakers' on in the background - not a good combination! Dh and I went outside to work out how the carseat worked (I had been saying we needed to do that all week - B was a week late) Next door neighbour wandered out for a natter and a 'when are you going to have that baby then?' I managed to conceal the contractions - didn't want to panic the old chap Then dh said lets have a pizza - so I did. All this time the contractions are very sharp and frequent but quite short. Eventually at about 8.30pm I felt we should get the babysitters round so rang our friends - who arrived displaying a lot more nervousness than we were. I had a bath and then felt we should make the short trip to the hospital - the contractions were very painful - still short and I didn't want to discover that they were only goig to get to 2 minutes long 5 minutes before delivery! So off to hospital, over the speed bumps (ouch) and in to the delivery room at just before 10pm. I made three discoverys there - 1) our midwife was lovely, a truly special professional and I'm so glad we had her 2) I was at about 4 cm - so not great progress but ok and cervix was very favourable, membranes bulging etc so looking good and 3) there was a woman in the room next to us who was making the most awful noise! She was basically roaring and screaming constantly. Fortunately dh and I found this quite amusing (heartless of us I know) and continued to do so until she delivered 2 hours later! By which time the roars sounded distinctly hoarse!
So we settled down - the midwife suggested a ball - which I bounced on quite happily and dh did his bit and counted me through the contractions. They were beastly - but short - by the time he got to about 30 seconds I was in agony and then by 1 minute it was all over. Time rolled on and I moved up on the bed and started using the gas and air. Don't really know what time it was by this point but I was terribly, terribly uncomfortable and desperate for my waters to break. I can remember dh saying the baby would be here soon and me saying 'how the bloody hell do you know!' He replied that he could see how fast the midwives were unpacking their kit - so I suppose it must all have happened quite fast at the end. Her head was out before I really registered that we were so far along, a little wait for another contraction and then the rest of her 'shot out' as dh says. That is such an amazing feeling! So then I asked what we had got and found to our utter delight we had another girl. We were both overjoyed and relieved to meet our gorgeous girl.
Then I registered something was not quite as it should be and that the sensation of losing fluid that I had was not in fact the rest of my waters going - but some bleeding. The midwives were looking a bit too calm and used controlled cord traction to remove the placenta - telling me very firmly not to push! Anyway - it all came away and the bleeding stopped - phew! So we got to know our girl - she was the smallest of the three and looked out at the world with big eyes and an expression of alertness and interest which seemed surprising in a newborn baby but is it seems just how she is. She displayed an early enthusiasm for breastfeeding and latched on very well. We had to stay in a few hours because of the blood loss but were home by teatime. I've had two April babies now - and both times the day has been so golden and light as we left hospital. All the colours look new again.

So B is a year old tomorrow. I can't beleive how the time has gone but I think we have made good use of the year - my daughter and I. She is a joy and delight - a playmate and friend to her sisters and a treasure to us. Dh and I know how blessed we are - our hands are overflowing and we are so thankful to God who has bought us safe thus far and who will never leave us.

Had forgotten about this thread

What lovely stories

Well, we have had the best year. I utterly adore my angel, and she has been a real joy. I think the easy birth helped enormously. (B's birth whilst reasonably quick for a 1st timer wasn't the best).

So, a year on, and K has only 2 teeth, blue eyes (unlike me, dh or B!), fluffy blond hair and a gorgeous heart-melting smile. She is crawling like a demon and pulling up, but thankfully no walking yet.

She adores B and B adores her.

We are truly blessed.

I also wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you on the April threads for such support, humour, and love. I really hope we continue to stick together for as long as possible. xx

As I said on the other thread NL made me cry too

Well I thought it was about time I added our bit!

Isobelle Clair was born at 2:50am on 4th April by c-section. My c-section had been planned for the 4th April but at nearer 7.30am!! Izzy had other ideas! I went in on 3rd for my pre-op assessment and felt that I may have been having contractions, but the mw said head was not engaged so it was unlikely! By 8pm contractions were about 15mins apart but not major painful and tbh I was pretending nothing was happening! I decided that I'd go to bed at about 11pm. I got into bed and then got up because I wanted the window open and 'pop' my waters broke!! Thankfully I was still able to have my c-section but had to wait until theatre was free. It was wonderful to be able to hold my gorgeous baby as soon as she was born(I only had a fleeting look at Jake before he was whisked away to SCBU) and to discover (as I had secretly thought) it was a daughter!

Izzy like Jake has been a very easy baby. Baring the days before my milk came in she has been very content and slept well! She has taken really well to bf (which I was determined to do after being disapppointed to not be able to manage it with Jake). So well in fact that she isn't ready to give it up yet.

Her and Jake get on so well, he is a very protective big brother and she loves to rough and tumble with him. It is lovely to watch them interact together!

Izzy now has 6 teeth and took her first few steps the day before her birthday. She is already taking after her mum and is a flirt with the men/boys!!

I feel truly blessed to have two gorgeous and happy children. Whilst having two has been difficult at times I can defintitely say that the great times outweigh the difficult ones!

It has been really great to have shared our first year journey with you all. I hope we will continue our friendships for many years to come!

Thought I had better add something too. A little delayed since F had her birthday several weeks ago, but better late than never!

I started to have contractions at 6.20am on March 28th 2007. They came very quickly so I called the midwife who came to my house to examine me. I was already 7cm dilated by 8am!
Got into the hospital by around 8.45am for antibiotics (Ethan was born with group B strep and needed treatment in SCBU for 11 days, so given AB's as a precaution).
I was extremely glad to see the gas and air, and I did not let it away from my lips until 10.10am when Ffion May was born very quickly indeed She weighed 8lb 1oz, and was (still is!) gorgeous! Fab delivery and only a couple of stitches needed!

We had to stay in hospital for a few days while Ffion was given some antibiotics, again as a precaution, but her blood tests came back as negative so we were allowed home on 31st March. My actual due date was April 1st.

The last year has flown by in a whirlwind, but I am a very proud and happy mum, to have two gorgeous children. Ethan absolutely adores Ffion, and he is convinced she now calls him buvva (brother to you and I)!! She is not yet walking on her own, but crawls like a maniac, and moves far too quickly for my liking at times! She is a very smiley and happy baby, and although we have had some rough patches with colds and the usual bugs, on the whole it's been a fab year!

I am hoping that the coming years don't go by quite as quickly, because I am afraid I am going to miss them!

Before I end this post I just want to say that although many no longer visit our thread, those that remain have been the most supportive virtual friends ever! You are an amazing bunch of ladies and I really hope that this thread continues for a long time to come. Love to you all xxxx
