If it is a blocked anal gland he will probably bum skid accross the floor to "itch" it. My little kitty used to do this, not nice when it is done on a carpeted floor and leaves a poo wipe mark behind (with pong)
Get him to the vets...

I know my kittens aren't fond of their litter tray. They keep crapping in corners.

My kittens bum is a bit bulgy at the moment, she has diarrhea. I'm about to start her on a chicken and rice diet for a few days, but I'm worried about her bum...

he may ahve a slightly prolapsing anus.
Kittens can get it if they are straining a little.
It's not a major problem unless it gets stuck out and then dries out and gets sore and infected- then it is a BIG problem.
keep an eyeon, and if he has diarrhoea you need to get that undercontrol
What are the anti-biotics for?

My cat passed a 5" piece of string that she had eaten when rummaging through someone's bin.

It had been attached to a chicken carcass.

Not much help, I'm afraid, but it was quite impressive - once I had stopped crying with terror.
