my friend who is 8 weeks pregnant has just told me that she will be a very good mother but completely on her terms!!!
she,s 36 has never had any interest babies or children.has always been career/money driven person who partieshard at weekends.
the thought of breast feeding makes her feel ill,as does being handed a baby that hasn't been thoroughly washed.
her baby will just have to learn to fit intoher life!!
i don,t even understand why she got pregnant she has only been with her partner a few months.
i see trouble ahead!!!

i'm watching the whole thing unfold with great interest.she has already caused a huge fuss whilst registering for anti-natal care (at my lovely health centre)because the receptionist
wasn't attentive enough to her

My fried was very much like that and she has stuck to it. She loves her baby yes but her parenting is very much on her terms. She didn't even consider breastfeeding.

I bite my tongue all the time and respect her right to parent in her way as I expect the same from her. (Although I'm pg with #2 and she feels that it would be better if I bottlefed as it's easier and you know exactly how much the baby is getting- grrrrrr I bite my tongue I just wish she would extend me the same courtesy sometimes lol)

we have been friends for 20 years and i love her dearly but she is the most selfish opinionated person i know!
earlier i was trying to talk to her about the benefits of that first breast feed even if you really don't want to carry on,so also how skin to skin contact helps you to bond with you baby and she told me i was talking utter rubbish

oh just to add my DD is nearly 6 am 11 weeks pregnant with DC2 and seperated from DH after year from hell - still would do exactly the same for my DD (my best and only worthwhile achievement)

Am ashamed to say I was similar and thought my life would continue and baby would just fit in - 2 weeks off work 6 months on prozac and I realised how very wrong I was - my life isvery different now and I wouldn't have it any other way
