If you have to replace a teddy does it still count?

Odd question. My eldest gave his brother a bunny the day he was born. It's vanished. I've turned the place upside down and it's nowhere. I'm worried it got caught up in the last haul for the charity shop. Ds2 has been crying every night, and tonight I sat down and cried too as I'm sure it's me who's lost it (I'm also 31 weeks pg and just found out that my cousin's baby was born sleeping, so unusually emotional).

If I can find him a new one (and I can't at the moment), does it still count as the teddy his brother gave him when he was born? I'm agonising over this. I'm sure it doesn't and I will always be the mother who chucked his bunny from the day he was born SadSad

There's a lovely picture book about this situation (a lost rabbit), called Tatty Ratty. Glad you found your Tatty Ratty (no idea why it's called Tatty Ratty)

OMG blue bunny has been found!! He was at the bottom of a dressing up drawer, at the in-laws' house, in France!! I have no memory of him travelling to France, DH has no memory of him travelling to France, DS2 doesn't remember taking him... but who cares?! He's back!! (Or rather, we're with him, he'll be coming back at the end of half term.

Such a relief! I almost cried when I saw him. DS2 wanted to put him straight in the car so he doesn't get left behind. Tempted.

Thank you so so much to everyone who posted teddy support and tried to find a replacement FlowersFlowersFlowers

Mine is attached to a little lion from Chester zoo. We did lose it, cue a frantic phone call to the zoo and a detailed description! They sent out a replacement. Ds's face when he opened the envelope was absolutely beautiful.

Thanks everyone! Maybe I need to go down the "brother bunny" route. I'll see what we can do first but that'll be the back up plan!

Sorry meant to say I hope you manage to find it or at least get hold of a replacement. Good luck.

Similar happened to us about 18 months ago when dd2 favourite original bunny (she had 3 in case of loss) went missing. She had already lost one of the spares in tesco and barely noticed but this was the original and she was really upset (so was I).

Found 1 the same on ebay, bought it and when it arrived told dd2 this was bunny sister come to look after her as she knew she was upset about bunny going missing. She still loves her 'sister bubba' but still sometimes asks about the original.

I'm still looking for it as I'm sure it never left the house.

What she doesn't know is that there are actually 2 'sister bubbas and I quietly rotate them Wink

We bought my son a Peter rabbit toy thinking it would be easy to replace if lost, but instead he decided to become attached to a teddy bear that came free with a pack of washing powder when we were on holiday abroad. We will never find a replacement and I get anxious every time he takes teddy out. I hope you find your rabbit.

Lol salad!! I was thinking last night that for DS3 I'll buy several, but I'll wait to see what he likes first! Grin

I'm sorry, I can't help with Roty Rabbit but this might make you smile...

Before DS was born a well-meaning friend suggested that we should choose a special cuddly toy and buy several of them so that should the worst happen we would always have a spare. Very sensible we thought.

Being completely gullible numpties first time parents we spent a Saturday afternoon choosing this special toy and came home with 4 of them. Blush

Needless to say, DS showed absolutely no interest in said carefully chosen toy and preferred an old cloth that we then carried everywhere for many years and was totally irreplaceable.

The four giraffes went on eBay.

No he's none of those Annie. Thank you so much though! I've already trawled every French site I can find and they don't have him.

Bamboo - I'm not certain he went to the charity shop, it's just I'm running out of ideas. He doesn't leave the house. It's the only thing I can think of now. But I will go on Tuesday and ask them! Ds2 has actually lost two bunnies, but this is the one he cares about. But for two of them to go missing... We've checked every room.

Strawberry - no, he's more pastel than that range. But some if those others were out at the same time, so I don't understand why he's disappeared so thoroughly Confused

Very best of luck op! My ds was almost 3 so you never know.

I was prepared at that point to pay anything as long as I could get him back so their generosity was wonderful and they even included a personal letter to ds, it's definitely worth a try, I was at my wits end and didn't think we would get another.
Fingers crossed for you :)

Sadly not Dilli. I wish it was that one, I've seen a few of him and I could buy several to avoid a repeat!

Peanut that's so lovely of them! I'm going to get DH to email Moulin Roty tomorrow (he's actually French), maybe they still have a malingering bunny somewhere! But he's over 4 now...

Any good? This was eBay

Definitely definitely counts as the same one!

If you have to replace a teddy does it still count?
