DP 30th birthday next week

I am stuck - I have no idea what to get my DP for his 30th birthday on 4/8. At the moment I don't have all that much money and he has specifically stated that he would be really cross if I bought him something now with debt hanging over me and if it means that much to me to wait until the debt is cleared and then buy something and by that time he may actually want or need something although this is very thougthful of him it doesn't seem right not getting him anything from me or our DD who is 4 - does anyone have any ideas what I can get that is not expensive but memorable. Any ieas greatly received!

yes - they were sort of cheque size and shape (mebbe a bit bigger) and had something like "This voucher entitles the bearer to.... " and lots of toddler decoration. Think he got some coloured card from somewhere as they were quite solid (ie not paper) and he gave them to me tied up in ribbon.

alicatsg - were the voichers/services like the tmeplate of a 'cheque' with the services written on it? I'm just trying to get an idea of where to start!

Puppy I could try to bake a cake and have thought about it but after eating it I'm not sure if it would be a just a nemorable day it could possibly turn out to be memorable few days knowing my baking skills!

SS - I think thats what dh did. The decoration had the hallmarks of smallfry but the writing was decidely grown up (he even managed to cut in straight lines).

TBH I wouldn't have thought of this either if I hadn't been on the receiving end but it was the nicest present ever,

You could also bake a cake or a giant cookie? and you and your dd could decorate it together.

Alicatsg - I don't know why I don't think of these things, it saves money and more importantly its so much more thoughtful we could perhaps give this a go although my DD does get very bored very quickly so if I do a template perhaps she could decorate etc. to her hearts content!

Supersonic - could you and DD draw them together? needn't be fancy its the thought that counts. For me DS's glue marks and weetabix decorations made the present!!

Thanks ngb the painitng set is a lovely thought and I did think about it but it seems for all ocassions involving presents to her dad our DD always gives a mug with daddy or Dad on it in fact I haven't got one so maybe I'll buy one anyway!

I think these voichers/'services' sound brilliant I guess you don't have to spend a fortune for soemthing to be special. I guess I can buy them from a book shop but if you know of anywhere that do some please let me know.

Your dd could paint the mug, would make a nice little pressie for him.

What about vouchers for "services" - and I'm not being smutty here - ie one for a back rub, one for a footie night with beer, one for a romantic meal, one for washing the car etc. DD could do some too - one for a special picture she draws etc. No cost at all really and very personal - DH did this for me last year and was really touched.

Thanks fruitful the ouchers idea is not bad I have seen some in 'Borders' the book shop and was going to buy them but as I am supposed to be saving money perhaps I should hunt for them online and print them off. Unfortunately I'm not saving the vouchers although we have talked about doing so as I understand there are some great deals i.e Lego land for our DD but I never really thought of looking for my DP.

You could print him a little book of vouchers to be used when he wants. Eg a voucher for a night out with his mates while you babysit, one for breakfast in bed, or a lie in or whatever... You can find templates on the internet.

I don't suppose you're saving Clubcard vouchers? Lots of cool things on the Deals.
