Help! What food/how much food to put into party boxes for 4 year olds?

It's dd1's birthday party on Saturday. I got party boxes which look like a castle. They're fairly small, not a lot will fit in.
Was planning to put in chicken nuggets (best quality I can find! Please don't flame me! ), sausages, Hula hoops.
What else should I put in ? Grapes, cocktail tomatoes, butter sandwich triangle, pizza..... can't make up my mind!
And what kind of quantities are realistic?
The party is at 2 pm, we will eat at about 3 pm. For afters there will be jelly, icecream and a fairy cake each.
Please help, am so undecided! TIA!

I'm having a house party for 15 four year olds and was going to post on this tonight! Would welcome tips from more experienced mums as I don't want to be left with tons left over.

Just a quick bump to see if others also think that the amounts look about right. Thanks ladies!

Nooooooo, the party is at the local church hall, I'm glad to say - couldn't cope with it in my house!
There's going to be 20 children as well - what was I thinking?

soiunds like more than enough! they'll be so hyper and wrecking your house they won't want much food

Thank you, this is really helpful.

So I think I will just go for
1 cocktail tomato
a few grapes (or a box of raisin better?)
1 nugget
2 sausages
1 tiny sandwich
1 bag of crisps

Do you think that is adequate?

I found that at 4 they wouldn't eat much more than:

2* quartered sandwiches (cheese spread, jam, ham being the most popular choices)
1* packet of crisps
1* small box of raisins
1* carton of juice.

If you want to do hot food then I would put this on plates on the table for them to help themselves to if they want it. But I really don't think it is neccessary!

Then after they had eaten this I passed round a plate of chocolate rolls - but your list of afters is more impressive

Do you have any veggies/kids with allergies/other food avoiders?

From your list, I'd probably go for:

1 nugget OR 2 cocktail sausages OR 1 piece of pizza (assume cold)
1 sandwich
1 bag of crisps
2 tomatoes
4 grapes

They never eat a lot at parties, apart from colourant packed crisps and icing off cakes IME!!

if your doing jelly and ice cream for pudding then i dont think you will need alot for dinner boxes maybe just a sanwich and some fruit sald and a choccy bar or something???

We had shaped boxes for dd's 4th birthday party last week, and we put in three cocktail sausages, cherry tomatoes, a blini, a couple of breadsticks, small packet of crisps, a mini scotch egg, 2 cocktail sausage rolls and a chocolate biscuit, and to be honest it was too much - half of it didn't get eaten.

i would stick to cold food, much easier.

do bread and butter, some cheese, crisps, maybe some fruit if you think it'll get eaten! ... the stuff you suggest sounds fine! Wouldn't go over the top as they generally just wanna eat the pudding-y stuff anyway!
