Mumsnetters needed to visit a Butlins resort – free stay in return for feedback NOW CLOSED

Butlins are looking for ten lucky MNers and their families to enjoy a free stay at a Butlins resort and post their feedback on MN.

Butlins say “We have been providing family breaks for nearly 80 years, and although we’ve changed with the times, many people still believe that we’re old fashioned and run down. We’re looking to change these negative perceptions and show Mumsnetters that we’re a 21st century holiday destination, which offers brilliant family breaks at great value for money”

We're looking for families who are able to visit the following resorts on the dates below:

  • July 18 – 21 : Minehead, Bognor Regis or Skegness
  • July 25 - 28: Minehead, Bognor Regis or Skegness
  • September 8 - 12: Minehead
  • September 15 - 19: Bognor Regis or Skegness
  • September 22 -26 : Minehead
  • October 31 - November 3: Minehead, Bognor Regis or Skegness
  • December 12 - 15: Minehead or Bognor Regis
  • December 15 - 19: Bognor Regis or Skegness
  • December 19 - 22: Minehead, Bognor Regis or Skegness

You can pick the resort and date you’d like to visit.

    The trip will include:
  • accommodation
  • breakfast and dinner
  • all entertainment
  • Splash Waterworld
  • Fairground

In return for this free trip (worth on average £650) each MNer will be asked to:
  • Make a video diary of their trip and submit this to Butlins. These videos will be edited and may be shown on the on Mumsnet, on Butlins.com and possibly elsewhere. They will be hosted on YouTube.
  • Add feedback to a thread on Mumsnet – at least twice. We're looking for feedback before you go and when you return. These comments may well be used by Butlins on Mumsnet and elsewhere (including on social media, in the press etc). Your MN name will not be used.
  • Add photos to the feedback thread (these don't need to show the children/ yourself, eg they could feature resort you’re staying in, food, etc)
  • Add a review on Mumsnet to the Self Catering pages
  • MNers visiting Butlins up to mid-September will also be asked to complete a feedback form for the Mumsnet Family Friendly programme

Unfortunately travel costs are not included, so please only sign up if you are happy to pay for your own travel.

In general, accommodation sleeps up to 6 people, but due to the combination of dates and locations, there are some restrictions. If you are interested, please apply and we will be allocating families based on their preferences and the rooms available.

If you'd like to sign up please add your details here.

We will be in touch with selected testers ASAP and their details will be passed to the team at Butlins so they can make the booking arrangements.

Thanks and good luck!

I've filled it in. DH is adamant he'd never pay to go again after last time so this gets around that proviso.

Done, this would be ideal for us, as DH grew up on a holiday camp, and it would be lovely to show the kids his 'childhood' .

I've signed up- never been before and willing to give it a go. The tweens will love me if we get picked- unlimited swimming, disco/entertainment and a fairground, what's not to like?

I've signed up for this before and sadly not been picked yet.

Surely it's my turn now MNHQ?

Ugh, no. Butlins is the worst place I've ever stayed in (and I've stayed in some utter shitholes in my time!)

I've done it but I really hope those of you who haven't had a holiday for years get chosen.
Not that we have all inclusive to the Bahamas but do get a camping holiday each year.

You see, they say they have changed... I'm not sure I'm prepared to take the risk.
Hope I'm wrong though and those who get picked have a great time.

I've signed up.....not had a holiday since 2008 (get yer violins out Wink). But would love to do a video diary, would be fabulous to give future customers a chance to see what they are getting for their money.

Completed and crossing fingers! Would love to take my parents away with me and ds and finally be able to do something to show them how much I appreciate them! I think the chance to review is fab too and a great way of getting customer feedback

Id like to see if they're the same as haven - it was filthy there (so bad most people got sick and had to go home)
The entertainment was dire too.

I'd love to try it. I know ''its Butlins'' but honestly what's the worst that can happen?

I have only been to Butlins once (my last holiday in 2008 funnily enough) and it's fine. There was loads to do with a child in two and my son loved it. He is autistic but was well catered for there. Would be good to see if there have been changes since then and how he might fare now he is older.

I think Butlins have improved lots of things over the last few years.

We are already going on a toddler break in September - what is up with dining?

We were debating adding the dining to the package (already booked stay) - anyone know if this is worth it?

thanks in advance!!

Dining is okay, it's not a la carte in the main dining room but it's fine for the need to fill hunger at the end of every day. Breakfast is pretty good too.

Perfectly edible food from my recall. Breakfast is toast and cooked breakfasts plus cereals etc too. Anything you might want really.

Dinner is roasts or lasagne or shepherds pie etc etc. nothing fancy but all okay.

I gather it is much posher (is that a word) in the resort hotels.

Good luck to everyone who's applied! I have my fingers crossed over here, too!
