Kliofem.....anyone else?

After what seems like forever, I've just started on kliofem today.
Anyone else? Or anyone any experience of it?

My last period was almost 15 months ago but had been every 11 months for a couple of years. Hot flushes have come and gone over the years but have been back for about 7 months now. More recently I've had several episodes of anxiety and I get lots of aches and pains so hoping this will help.

Now I need to overhaul the diet!!
I'm 44 btw

I am now 49 however I started with what they like to call the perimenepause around 3 years ago.
Started taking essulett duet then switched to the essulett duet conti. Was doing great then I was unable to get my regular prescription and was switched to femoston. Since the switch I feel awful. The hot sweats are back headache a feeling nausea and the anxiety which I never had prior to starting with the change..
Was thinking of changing to kilofem (despite the worrying name)
However, after reading the comments I'm in two minds.
Has anyone had a positive experience on this medication.

Hi, I was very happily on Evorel Conti patches until these suddenly became unobtainable - something about the glue apparently, - so my dr prescribed Kliofem. I'm about 10 pills in, and no hot flushes But such explosive rage and put on 3kg in the these 10 days!!
Any one else experienced the anger and sudden weight gain (eating the same as we always do and weight has been stable for last few years.

Hi all I'm new here

I am 42 and started experiencing menopause 8months ago. Gp put me on elleste duet which was working well till I was told there are supply issues. Went to see GP he put me on kliofem even though I'm not postmenopausal 1st dial 4th tablet I was found in bed by my kids unconscious. They called an ambulance was in intensive care for 2 days doctors struggling to bring me round I woke up after 2 days. They suspect I had a seizure but dont know why as they did all the tests and no infection nothing. I have decided to stop taking kliofem as I have a strong feeling it caused me to have this seizure. Has anyone experienced this or am I the only one.

@PrudenceDearYou ought not to have been put on a conti regime but I have never heard of seizures being a side effect- have you read the patient leaflet that comes with it to see if it's noted?

There are many different types of HRT so Kliofem was a bad choice as it's not right for women in peri.

Sounds as if your GP is pretty clueless over what else they could have prescribed.

Insist on a referral.

Hi ladies. I'm on my 3rd week of kliofem. Last few days I have had horrendous backache and period cramps. Anyone else felt like this?

Hi All

I've been on Kliofem since I was 29, I'm now 42 and will remain on it until I am 50.

I have never had any problems with this HRT and also use vagifem.

I've lost weight since starting HRT and am nearly 3 stone less than what I was in my 30's. My skin, hair etc. Is good.

I hope you all find something to give you some relief from the horrible side affects.

Hi all

I started kilofem 3 weeks ago due to stock problems with my last hrt.
Initially it’s been great, no night sweats or hot flushes which have been awful for me but a really poor memory still.
This morning, after 13 years, I have started bleeding, which was really frightening. No one told me this was a normal side effect of this hrt.
I just googled post menopausal bleeding and saw all sorts of horror stories.
Thankfully I now see this is normal, But not for me.
I am having strong cramps and feel quite sick, although that might still be the shock of seeing blood for the first time in years.
I am thinking I will stop taking hrt now. I’ve only been taking it for the sweats etc. I’ve had a bone scan which was fine and having been on it so long I think this may be the time to go cold turkey.
I’ve been on hrt since I was 35. I’m 50 now. Surely that’s enough?
I’ve tried many over the years, mostly to try and get my libido back, but that’s long gone.
I’m so glad I found this forum as I had started to really worry this morning.
Thank you ladies.

Hi Marie 104, after trying several HRT treatments without success, my GP put me on Kilofem. The 1st 3 months were horrendous, my boobs were so sore that I had to hold them when I walked up and down stairs! I'm only a 36B so not huge boobs..lol..I had stomach cramps and bad tummy like IBS symptoms. I'm 53 and work full time so I felt dreadful but stuck with it, the 4th month onwards was great and I feel great. I'm now on my 8th month. So it's worth persevering see how you get on. I had bad symptoms before HRT, aches and pains, mood swings, so tired all the time, my skin itched all over and was so hot to touch, all that gone now Smile

Well I’m glad I found this thread! I was on Everol Conti patches for almost 2 years and feeing great, but due to the patch supply issue I am now on Kilofem. Almost 6 weeks in I feel like I’m 100 years old! Nausea, stressed, bloated, constipated, horrible neck tension that makes me emotional (which I’m hoping will be relieved with cranial osteopath today). I’m 45 and the main reason I’m on hrt is to prevent osteoporosis and to control mood/anxiety. Sweats were never an issue. I’m going back to the docs to seek an alternative. Mirena and oestrogen gel have been suggested, why do I need the Mirena and gel?

If you still have a uterus I believe you still need progesterone (Mirena) to protect the lining, allthatglitters1. Though some of us have different forms of progesterone--I have Utragestan tablets, which has (mostly) been OK for me.

Hi I am 54 no period for well over 2 years. Put up with Meno symptoms mainly not sleeping, emotional, anger, low confidence, anxiety, flushing and lack of sleep. Also an older mum with two teenagers close in age (one in midst of GCSE’s the other has this next year).
Started EVOREL Conti for three months and felt ok but supplies have dried up so started Kilofem less than a week ago.
I don’t know if it’s coincidence but I feel quietly happier, have noticed I am sleeping better (deeper/longer and getting off to sleep quicker than I have in years)? Also I had pain in my shoulders for months at least 6. GP/Physio diagnosed nerve pain and this seems much easier?
On the downside my big tummy feels much bigger than usual and much more bloated I have not had crampy feeling or any spotting or bleeding yet. But must confess I haven’t read the leaflet yet will do that today. Does everyone get spotting or bleeding not sure I am ready for that again @PollyPerky or does anyone else know?

I'm the opposite couldnt get my Evorel Conti patches since August so put me onto Kliofem.
It has been honestly horrendous, I've bled pretty much since September, cant sleep, panic attacks, palpitations, so so tired all the time. I look feel and act like a zombie. Trying to hold down my ft job is a real struggle at the moment and the house is a tip.
Evorel really worked for me and I hat that a shortage is making me feel so physically and emotionally ill

IndieTara - that’s interesting I felt instantly happier on Kilofem. I have a few underlying health conditions and also joined SW to try and loose some weight but since the weekend I have also felt very tired.
Hope you get sorted out soon. 💐

I've only had four days worth of Kliofem and im feeling something which could be described as an unsettling irritability or rage like sensation. And also feel very vulnerable and clumsy along with an odd visual impairment, something like an incorrect depth perception scenario, keep dropping stuff like it falls straight through my hands, sieve hands. Feeling very odd indeed do not know if i can take these very much longer. Find my mouth starting to gape open and doing a lot of mouth breathing, im sure im dribbling too. This medicine makes me feel retarded.

My GP switched me to Kliofem about 6 weeks ago because my previous HRT was making me gain weight.
Within 2 weeks I’d dropped 3 lbs.
However, now I’m getting blood spotting and cramps. But worse than that is acne on my face. I didn’t even have acne as a teenager.
Has anyone else had similar and does it settle down ?

I had to come off Kliofem 10 days ago, it was making me feel horrendous. Mood swings, rage, anxiety and also a hideous rash on my face. Awful stuff. Am now on oestrogen gel with progesterone tablets. See your doctor again if you're not feeling right. I stuck it out for too long thinking it would get better, but it didn't.

Hi,
I was on Tibolone for 2 years but gained a stone with it. I started it at 53 having stopped periods at 50.
My GP recently put me on Kliofem. I’m almost finished the second wheel.

From week 3 I started with cramps, bleeding, nausea, headaches and tiredness and it’s just got worse. After 5 years of no bleeding this is hard. And I never ever had period pains as bad as this cramping. I’m not sure I can stand much more. Certainly not up to 6 months of it which some of you are suggesting.
I am well informed about the pros and cons, have no heart or bone risk and am generally healthy. I’m feeling very stupid to be taking something that is making me so miserable.

Well have been on these for two months now and they have pros and cons. My main reason for wanting to go on HRT was to balance my hormones. I had terrible anxiety which left me quite unable to spend any amount of time in public places. I had been given several anti psychotic drugs to help but they all had horrendous side effects but im happy to say that being on kliofem has helped eradicate my anxiety completely and i can now comfortably visit public places without freaking out. My periods prior to taking kilofem were extremely heavy for 48 hrs and then just spotting for several days, they were regular in there cycle. I have had two sort of periods since taking kliofem both were very light. When i first started to take kliofem my son said i was a bit more crazy than usual and was less tolerant of his ways and would react quite quickly but added that soon wore off and and i became easier to get along with. I found myself saying yes a lot more and this also included saying yes a lot more to take away meals. I have gained one stone in two months whilst being on kilofem and my breasts are continuously engorged, enlarged and sore to touch. My stomach is also engorged and enlarged but not painful to touch although painful to view and i can not see to shave my bits and bobs anymore. I do not know if this is related to the kilofem or not but i have experienced acute hip pain, very severe. The pain started in my deep left buttock area and radiated to my left calf, this continued for approximately one month depite taking strong pain killers and naproxen. After about five weeks the pain has now became less and is now felt in the left ankle and not the calf but still a little in the buttock area. I asked my GP if it was related to the kliofem and was told no but im not so sure. The pain may have started due to the weight increase which took my overall body weight upto 13st. Due to the weight gain i stopped taking kliofem, after two days my anxiety was back with vengeance and i had started to have an irregular bleed so did not skip the third days dose. I would like anyone who has experience with HRT to recommend an alternative which could combat the anxiety but without the terrible weight gain and enlargement of breasts and stomach.

Hi, I’m 47 and I’ve been on the menopause since I got married in 2011 after taking norethisterone as I was due my period on my honeymoon. After a year or two back and fore they found I was on the menopause. Started to asking Boots own remedy and this was great for a year but the sweats were bad. I went on hrt it went out of production they gave me Indivina which was great...but that went out of stock now I’m on Kliofem. Two weeks in I feel like I’m poisoned with something. Tired constantly, no energy, brain fog, no interest, sleep disturbance and general feeling of unwellness. Im not sure whether to continue or stop. I feel like a zombie most of the time! Any thoughts ladies would be gratefully received.
