I am very happy to officially announce my arrival as a single mother of two!
Most of my family and friends are wringing their hands and wondering why I am not on the floor wimpering. Me? I feel freedom coming at last, not bothered that he has buggered off with a woman from work - she is welcome to the miserable sod. My kids seem quite happy with the situation...so mines a bacardi and coke.

Hi
I have been a whimpering wreck for too long. It's only coming on MN that has opened my eyes and I agree, it is far better to be rid of those w**kers. Let some other poor woman be lumbered with him and get up a two in the morning to feed him cause he's hungry after a hard night partying.

Another one joining in here. Toasting the strength we women have under duress. Well done on your view of life. I'm hoping that I will be the same. Have in all intent purposes been a single mum for so long since h has been travelling and not around for the last two years.

Yay - congrats on your new beginning. Glad you're so chipper about it - Hope I will be too when my mess is sorted out. Have to say, although I'm very very sad, part of me is looking forward to it too. Thanks for sharing!

Ooooh Emskilou CSC lol!! I'm a single parent to dd12 & ds8 and have been for 7 years. At times it's unbearably hard, no real disposible income, not enough hours in the day etc, but I know I'm doing a good job and I have 2 beautiful well adjusted children. IMO! Redstar onwards & upwards, mines a voka & tonic.

Yay! so glad you are happy, I'm a single mum to 2 beautiful little babies and the happiest I have been in a long time, its my wedding anniversary on Sunday and I havent seen the cock sucking cowboy for 15 months neither has our daughter and he hasn't met our son yet!! and I'm glad of it!

Ooooh sorry to lower the tone with my bad language but there are no polite words to describe the pathetic excuse of and ex husband really!! Oooh I'll have a lovely glass of wine for starters

Hi im new to mumsnet, been a lurker for ages but your thread has prompted me to pluck up the courage to post! Great attitude! im a single mum of 2 - my chap (im too old to have a boyfriend) keeps asking me to move in with him but i love my independence too much and love my time alone with ds and dd. It was a lot harder 12 yrs ago though, i was made to feel like the underneath of the underclass. Mines a double!

Cheers from me too. There are hard times ahead of course but stacks of good times too, and I can't think of a better era to be a single parent in than now
Even 20 yrs ago it was much tougher
50 years ago, forget it.

Completley agree!

I too love being a single parent and find it much easier than being part of a miserable couple!

I especially like the freedom ds and I have to do whatever we want without fitting it around another person too. I don't like it when I get sympathetic looks from other people, I'm happy in my situation, glad others are too! We rock

i raise my glass to you (could i have diet coke please?) One happy, loving parent is better than 2 miserable ones

redstar - bottoms up! I spent 5 very happy years as a single parent before I met dh2. I was delighted too to be on my own without a miserable sod and no hoper father to my 3 kids.

Enjoy whatever time you have as a single parent - with an attitude like yours, some lovely man will want to snap you up in no time!
