Why are the ProPalestininian protestors so violent?

Watching the propalestinian protestors is quite scary, the seem very violient. why can't they march peacefully? I've been watching them on the news protest in different countries and they cause criminal damage to property, yesterday they beat up a Hassidic family who had to be hospitalised, and they cover their faces like criminals. Just wondering why they can't convey their message peacefully.

The demo I took my children to in London (the first one I think) was the least violent and aggressive march I have ever been on. I didn't see any thing untoward at all.

OP, how about directing your horror towards the murdered and orphaned children in Gaza. Don't you think that matters a lot more? I know when I watch the news at the moment I veer from utter sadness to raging anger seeing the atrocities committed by the terrorist Israeli state.

On that note, I was going to make the point earlier that some people cover their faces on some protests, not because of their own planned law breaking, but to avoid ending up under survellience, or on some Government fike -things that time has shown do happen.

I didn't attend either of the protests here in Sydney over the weekend - the pro-Palestinian one or the pro-Israel one. What I did gather from the reports was that the pro-palestinian one was heavily monitored by intelligence agents with video cameras whilst the pro-Israel one was not. Neither had any reports of violence. That's not fair and, I think, a fair indication that those videos will be reviewed extensively not only to check for genuine extremists (visibly few) but to probably identify and intimidate those that who are emerging as leaders even if they espouse non-violence. Did so many of us fight the Nazis for this? There were many Palestinian Christians in Australia who attended on Sunday ... they are very much the forgotten victims of both ends of the extremism in the media (except they're not at ground level because they are very active in the churches).

Littleducks - I think the point is that fairly minor matters can be reported to them, and they can collate info for the police. No one is suggesting that major incidents shouldn't be passed on the proper authorities.

It's scarcely a security force - just volunteers who help out, for example at synagogues. If the police were needed at every service where we live, they'd do nothing else.....

I found the blog very interesting. I find the idea of a separate security force for Jewish people a bit worrying. Especially as they suggest university students report incidents to them instead of/ before the police.

makes it hard to gain an unbiased view of the situation.

Sergeant, most of the incidents listed on that blog are nothing to do with demonstrations. They are someone in the street shouting abuse, or a brick being thrown through the window of a synagogue. Nothing to do with protesters against the horror in Gaza. Wrong in themselves, but definitely NOT evidence of protesters against Israeli aggression being 'violent'.

I am not keen on violent protest either but as others have said, that's far from being the most disturbing thing about the current Israel-Palestine situation! The school bombing is frankly at the top of my list of things to be horrified and sickened by. And as for 'being dragged into a political debate', you're in one by posting about the subject at all, and it's naive to think it's not political.

As I responded at the start violence at demos is not exclusive to Pro palestine demos. People have stopped taking the OP seriously after her nonsensical subsequent posts.

Anti-semitism and 'pro palestine' are not the same thing, but there is crossover and anti-semitists will hide behind pro palestine marches.

The same as there being a crossover between being jewish and being anti-palestine. (the state of) Israel and jewish are not the same thing either and whenever someone conflates them it should be challenged.

You must have seen what happened in France recently at the protests? To suggest they are non-violent is just not true.

I am sure that many protesters are there for sincere reasons. Regrettably protests often attract unpleasant elements too.

Snort at Mandela being held up as a bastion of non violent protest.

'Freedom Fighter' or 'Terrorist' is entirely dependant on who wins.

Very restrained waffly! It's so tough as a 'pro Palestinian' not to go about scaring people and committing random acts of violence left, right and centre.

The demo I attended in Glasgow was peaceful. Full of families. Police were mostly there to be helpful and manage traffic from my perspective!

The pro Palestinian protests I have been on in London have not been at all violent, they have been very peaceful, and people have been cooperative and friendly with the police who were there just to manage the crowds.

Waffly, I wish I could have joined you today, I hope it's going well.

yes mummywentshopping all those 'propalastinian' (sic) supporters are evil and 'violient' (sic) aren't they? in fact I heard from the IDF that they have two heads and forked tongues, and that they boil babies up and eat them as well! Shock.

I have it on good authority mainly from Mark Regev and Ayelet Shaked that they are all snakes and must die, die DIE. I hope all Mners agree.
