What is going on in child protection training that so many Professionals are so obsessed with this type of witch hunt?

As usual the DM is out on the social worker witch hunt, usual awful journalism....

If anyone is to blame in these cases is NHS. Instead of referring parents or children to ss, they should consult a paediatrician before anything else. Yeah, yeah, funding cuts and lots of blah blah, yet it took four years to any Dr. I had to refer me for an MRI... (A partial MRI, because the doctor told me he couldn't believe I was feeling pain in the neck!). This after three neurosurgeons in Europe put me on six-month checks after I nearly lost my life after car accident ten years ago.

Sorry but NHS sucks big time, some of the Dr. are so incompetent that they couldn't even understand what was written in the feedback sheet of the previous MRIs.....

I have seen paperwork with Professionals in Education who have no medical qualifications and no medical records, make diagnosis of a parent, going as far as saying the parent is mentally unwell and there is nothing physical going on with the parent, the parent had EDS and various other secondary physical issues. I find that quite disturbing, an educator behaving like that, putting that on paperwork accusing the parent of FII?

I had a feeling it was the training that is at fault here. I went on a very basic course myself as a homestart volunteer. It was the way the training social worker spoke about FII, it was so odd. I think the training needs to be overhauled.

There is also this NAZI originated phrase Best interests of the child that disturbs me, there is no framework as to what is in the best interests of the child, it is a phrase open to such abuse by some professionals. I think this needs looking at personally.

The current training seems to be that Professional's can destroy THE MAJORITY of children's lives and rip them to bits in search of the odd case of FII, so they can destroy more lives to protect the odd life? No child is worth more than another, they are not protecting children they are destroying children, they are claiming to protect!

We have had above a professional state six families of children have been destroyed with false FII allegations, and I promise you they will be destroyed by the experience, it is highly traumatic and not one FII case was found. The current child protection seems to think that they can go around destroying people, do so with no come back. In other countries if a Professional makes a false allegation, they can be later sued, I wonder if this could be looked at here? If they are so sure they can put their career and finances on the line with their suspicions, I wonder how many fII referrals would be made then?

I have obtained a great deal of my comments from discussions with people with far more knowledge than I, they don't post on here.

There are people who can see the problems and solutions far clearer than I can, and who can write fare more eloquently than I can.

I have given the link to the other site to two, one previously said they had too much on to contribute, another said she will look.

There really should be some personal comeback as well for Professionals who are not following Government guidelines for FII, who are not only destroying children's families, they are also wasting millions of pounds of public funds, the tax payer should be up in arms at the power an ignorant shit stirring dinner lady, a vengeful ex, a corrupt professional, a neglegant medic, all sorts can have power over children's lives, which leads to the wasting of public funds. A false allegation can mean, social services are not free to help a family that need the care, court reports, solicitors, reports for court, hospitals, police, education, health visitors, physio's, OT's, the list goes on, all put under extra pressure from a false allegation. The NHS after the false allegation then has to clear up the mess that is left. This really is a public issue as they are wasting tax payers money on these false allegations.

The wasted money on false FII cases could be used in the NHS and social care to fund the proper care of these children with invisible medical conditions and there would still be loads left over to pay for legal aid that has been take away.

In our case, I have done a rough topping up of the cost of false allegations and worked out how much I have spent on private care and would need to spend privately on additional health care we should idealy be getting, for state paid home adaptions and there would be loads left over, it is such a waste of money, the children suffer, public services suffer and the only people who gain are the people preparing reports for courts and solicitors.

OldLadyKnowsNothing - you describe the case in the first post as historical.
From what I have heard, sometimes people don't always speak up at the time for fear of making things worse, they feel safer keeping their heads down. It is only later that they feel safe to speak out, because the child is now out of reach because he has now grown up, or died.

So if you want to know what is happening now, you may have to wait 10 or 20 years.

Build up - please look at the post I have just published on the CPR site and see if you are happy with it.

I have basically just cut and pasted your longer post and added some links; I don't feel comfortable going into more detail about the medical side as it is emphatically NOT my field of expertise, but I think this is am important issue and hopefully will start some more constructive debate.

Ok so far, we don't actually have FII, well I was not found to have it after a court case involving me being psychiatrically evaluated for it, so I know I don't have it.

EDS parents have been accused not just by Dr's they often get accused of this condition by various professionals in various agencies, I was not accused of it by a Dr, I was accused by a professional who didn't even follow government guidelines, which lead to the physical condition not being investigated and them being put through needless psychiatric evaluation. As far as I know not one EDS parent has been diagnosed with FII.

Sorry about my spelling of the brain Amygdala.

That should have read, the children not being physically examined as per government guidelines for FII and them being psychiatrically examined instead, which left them ill and subjected them to needless psychiatric evaluation.

I was sent these articles and they may be helpful to put in the article.

You could argue the psychiatric issues have been caused by physical issues and due to the way we have been treated by society and professionals

Psychiatric

Psychological dysfunction, psychosocial impairment, and emotional problems are common [Hagberg et al 2004, Rombaut et al 2011a].

Specific manifestations may include depression, anxiety, affective disorder, low self-confidence, negative thinking, hopelessness, and desperation [Hagberg et al 2004, Castori et al 2010a, Baeza-Velasco et al 2011, Branson et al 2011, Rombaut et al 2011a].

Fatigue [Voermans et al 2010b] and pain [Rombaut et al 2011a] exacerbate the psychological dysfunction.

Psychological distress exacerbates pain [Baeza-Velasco et al 2011, Branson et al 2011].

Fear of pain and/or joint instability may lead to avoidance behavior and exacerbate dysfunction and disability [Baeza-Velasco et al 2011, Branson et al 2011].

Affected individuals may feel misunderstood, disbelieved, marginalized, and alone [Baeza-Velasco et al 2011].

Resentment, distrust, and hostility may develop between the affected individual/family and the healthcare team (in both directions), adversely affecting the therapeutic relationship [Branson et al 2011].

I agree it seems odd that parents exonerated by the court shouldn't be allowed to talk about it using their real names?

A the risk of being slatted. I have a close relative who is always complaining of being ill. She has travelled a lot so not always logged at the same surgery. She has never showed any signs of illness but moans and complains all the time. The family think she might have Munhausen's and it has now turned to her child. Always at the GP. Can never find anything, just normal colds and D@V.

The family do think she is attention seeking and we are keeping an eye on it.
