Has anyone been following this trial. I think it is possibly the most horrific trial I have read about. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-22064366

I have read a few things like this lately and I am at a loss to understand how I can possibly be a member of the same species as some so-called human beings.

I find it really really hard not to long for the return of the death penalty sometimes.

I just hope they serve the full sentence. I don't think they would in England, hopefully the Scottish legal system is better in this respect.

I'm not in Scotland but saw a report on this and did keep an eye on the progress of the trial. What happened to her was absolutely barbaric, I could not believe how awful the details were & long she was made to suffer. Very glad that the guilty verdicts came in and those men will be locked up for a long time. Her poor poor family, not able to give her the dignity of a funeral Sad

She just looked so young, especially in the first picture that was used of her with her hair scaped back.

I cannot imagine what she went through and what her family are still going through, not knowing where her body is. It must be sheer hell for them and although I too welcome the long sentances, her family have an even longer one.

I suspect the money she conned from the perpetrators wasn't theirs in the first place. An innocent victim would never have even dreamed of resorting to anything like this.

Yamyoid I agree with you.

I've never heard of this case before. Sickening!

Report
MajaBiene · 13/04/2013 00:08

Conning people out of their money is bad, sure - but nothing like torturing someone for two weeks.

Report
edam · 13/04/2013 00:00

Good, I'm glad they got the longest-ever minimum sentences.

Report
fergoose · 12/04/2013 21:14

I was impressed with the length of the sentences given, if that is the right word. I agree with you - I hope they rot.

they got the longest minimum sentences ever given in Scotland and it's not long enough! hope they never leave the place and die before their time is up. scumbags.

Good grief, that poor woman. Can't believe there's a poster on here who 'finds it hard to feel sorry for her'. FGS, the woman was tortured and killed over a period of weeks! If she ripped some people off, they should have gone to the police. Why didn't they, I wonder? Hmm Perhaps because it was dirty money in the first place?

Report
fergoose · 12/04/2013 13:14

Just awful - I don't understand how anyone could inflict such injuries on anyone - cannot imagine how she must have suffered. Also the accomplices who stood by and let it happen - her poor family.

Yamyoid - I honestly have the same gut feeling. Even CSI which I enjoy, is grim and detailed and I can't help but feel it eggs people on in some way, maybe by lowering their disgust threshold.

LadyBeagleEyes · 12/04/2013 12:23

How can any human being do this to another?
And there were two of them and two others that knew what was going on?
I can't comprehend that so many people have that much evil in them Sad Shock
Somedayma, really?

Horrendous and I heard it on the radio when in the car with ds. They revealed some details before I had chance to switch off. Really wasn't happy he'd heard such terrible things can happen in life.
Can't help feeling that torture porn films, or even just ordinary film and tv, may have influenced the men's actions. Would people really think to carry out such horrific, barbaric acts if they'd not seen it on tv so regularly?

Report
lyndie · 12/04/2013 12:15

The details are very distressing, it must have been horrific for her.

Lots of people up here are saying that she deserved it though I can't really find out what she did that was so awful? I think she may have tried to con money from people but it has been played down a lot by the media.

Report
Willow36 · 12/04/2013 12:14

Fuck, that's awful. She must have been terrified.

Report
Allice · 12/04/2013 12:12

She wasn't innocent by any means but did she really deserve that, Somedayma?

I've followed it a little, I'm in England and it doesn't seem to have been reported on the news here, to be fair I don't read news papers and it may have been covered there.

I don't know how anyone could do that, regardless of what they've done.

Report
EverSoYoni · 12/04/2013 12:08

I read something about it in the paper the other day. Its like something out a horror movie/book. Can't imagine what she went through. Nobody deserves that.

Horrific crime,

Are you kidding somedayma??? Vigilante justice is ok then?
No way, she was a fraudster yes but what they did was horrendous.

Report
msrisotto · 12/04/2013 12:04

Wow. I am horrified and shocked by the crimes but also the fact that this is the first I have heard of it. Inhuman those men are, all of them.
