Thinking of buying a Miele washing machine...?

To ask anyone who own's one, I am thinking about buying one but do they really live up to their name? Because I don't split my washing into fabric type apart from wool only by colour, what cycles are best for this? Does anyone have one a suspended floor, concerned as my flooring is rubbish. Are the washing cycles long? Thanks

Ours have been very good. We did have a few ongoing issues with the dishwasher and you have to have a dedicated engineer because they computer diagnose. Like I say though the washing machine's not had a problem, touch wood. For what it's worth the last engineer said, when pushed, that if was purchasing he'd definitely go for a Miele washing machine but not necessary their dishwasher and from experience I'd agree with him on that.

Look out to see if anyone's doing the 5 year guarantee offer at the moment.

Does anyone know how Miele are with thier repairs if something goes wrong in the guaranty period?

my mum and dad have a miele and after 15 years of being used every day its just broken down.

my dad is attempting to repair it himself and has noticed that no local repair shops have the parts and he has had to order them online but other than that for 15 years its certainly paid for itself!

We have a relatively basic one - it's great. Only ever use the automatic wash unless I need extra rinse - can adjust the temp and spin downwards on that one. Reliable so far (5 years I think)

If you have a look at the John Lewis website, there is a list of the technical specifications. I'm not on a water meter so don't watch my consumption too closely. I assume it uses an average amount.

napkin, the water levels differ on every load depending on how heavy the load is

If you actually read the manual, the quick wash is only suitable for half loads.

Water plus is great for washing heavy items like towels. It will only increase the cycle time if you have it programmed to do extra rinse

We have a Miele Novotronic W828, which we have had for 15 years now. It wasn't cheap, but I can honestly say it was worth every penny!

We can use the quick cycle for full loads and it is a 30 min cycle. We can also highlight a short wash on any of the other cycles so a normal 40°C cotton cycle reduces to just over an hour.

I think I will actually cry when my trusty machine finally bites the dust!

I would have thought the machine will use more electricity to heat more water, so not as economic.

Depends on how dirty your washing is, I don't use it that much, and it doesn't add time.

It means the water levels in the wash and rinse stages are increased. I use that when I wash my dogs bedding to try and get rid of as many hairs as possible!

You can program water plus to do different things. You can either have it do an extra rinse, increased water level or both.

I have mine set to do both an extra rinse and increased water levels. If I'm in a hurry, I sometimes press both short & water plus so it still does a thorough wash.

Yes, that's what it's called on the front of the machine. But you can also have short/quick programmes of the other cycles, I was just trying to be clear.

WDA110, looking at the back of the manual. You might be able to use the express wash for most of your things, the difference is in the level of agitation for the clothes, it says normal rhythm for express but intensive for the cotton cycle. Half load is fine, will probably be quicker as the machine will adjust automatically to the weight of the clothes.

If you do a half load on cottons, the machine will automatically reduce the wash time and water. It has a built in weight sensor
