I need a cleaner to clean my house and do my ironing. I have no idea how much cleaners cost. Can you please enlighten me? Thanks

Gosh - I'm in a fairly well off bit of south London and pay ÂŁ11 per hour. But no agency so it go straight to the cleaner.

Hi contrary to what you may believe, just as an example in my case it is my full time self employed job. I pay tax and nat. ins. From ÂŁ12.50 per hour, I supply all my own cleaning materials, provide vacuum cleaner, steam cleaner, carpet washer and run my estate car. I do not get paid for holidays or sickness (hence no sick days for over 12 years) and have to cope with random cancellations (holidays and emergencies accepted) so it's actually not that much. Many do not realise. I'm lucky in that all my really clients appreciate me and don't treat me like a Mrs. Mop. I have cleaned for some for over 15 years now.

I et paid ÂŁ10 an hour and ÂŁ12 on another and I pay my own insurance and tax and I travel to my clients so don't think It's fair to say 12 an hour is a lot for cleaning its physical work ! Doctors couldn't be paid enough if they were earning a fortune it's still a very hard job but please don't compare cleaning to other well paid jobs it's a service provider like any other and deserves to be treated as such ! Thanks Mary

Your not getting enough if you provide all those services in my opinion. M

I want to get clients near to me at ÂŁ15 an hour to cover my expenses and I'm self employed so no need to pay an agency .lm a key holder and work for other clients outside my preferred catchment area . I am an excellent cleaner and won't be providing my own hoover etc but I will help with ironing as well if you need it please leave me a message if your local and agree to my rates Best Mary

I was paying ÂŁ12.50 hr for two hours every other week

Recently had a manicure done in 40mins and paid ÂŁ25 it got me thinking that no way did my lovely cleaning lady deserve the same money as that manicurist for the shear bloody effort and grunt work she does to make our home sparkling

Now pay her ÂŁ15 hour and both she and we are v v happy!
