How children learn at home by Alan Thomas, is his latest research, following on from some themes that developed in his original research.

Well written IMHO and well worth a read.

Alan is not a home educator and sent his own children to school, so this work could be said to be unbiased.

Jan FW on the other hand, is a home educating parent and writes mostly about autonomous home based education and 'Taking Children Seriously' (and she is a published novelist)
She is most definitely not part of EO.

I have not heard of a book written Jan by that title-can you post a link for the one you mean?
Jan's books can be found on the Education Heretics site and HE-UK, MIke FWs website some of her articles for the Home Ed Journal can be found on the UK-HE website too

Yikes!

I think Amazon have made a mistake.
This looks like the latest SINC that EO have published-but Jan is definately NOT the author!

I'll go check with Jan and with EO and get back to you.

But anyone joing EO gets a copy of this book for free.

maamajullah
I have just had a message back from Jan's husband Mike Fortune Wood. Jan definately didn't write that book.
Lots of others well worth reading, but not that one.

Thank you Julienoshoes.
One last thing please, since i have two children(hoping to have more), does that mean i'll find "Educating your children at home-Alan thomas" more useful than "Educating your child at home-Alan Thomas"?

I like his book How Children Learn at Home'-the latest one, written with Harriet Patterson, which builds on what he found before.

Quite a few families talk about home educating their children for his research.

But it's horses for courses- different people want different things, I think.
