i get my dd's a happy meal as a treat sometimes and have believed the statements they put out about quality meat, but my friend just told me that the main competitors for dog and cat food beef is mcdonalds! is this true?

On a long distance trip earlier this year, I had to buy something for Dd that I knew she'd eat and the only thing available was McD's, so I asked for a small fries without salt. They had to fry some fresh ones as everything was covered in salt. I think my exact words were; 'Do you still throw loads of salt on your fries'?

I never add salt to anything anyway, so even a small amount to me is way OTT.

And I looked at the tiny print calorie sheet they provide and the dds meals - filet of fish and fries - were 960 calories each.

McD's is excellent hangover food. You can't eat organic quinoa-n-lentil falafels everyday, can you?

I haven't touched McD's for years. I can't even go in there normally(I'm not a veggie either)and only did so in Feb because there was nothing but chocolate or fries...

Filet of Fish and small fries with water = 610 calories,

Chicken Nuggets (4), packet of fruit and water = 225 calories.

Might not be the healthiest thing for children to eat but I like McD's and I'm not embarrassed to say that.

I go there once every couple of months and want to teach my children that, yes you can eat so called junk food as part of a balanced diet as long as you are sensible.
Would far rather do this and know that I have brought my children up to understand this, than completely ban fast food from their diets.

Have heard far too many school children talk about how great it is that they can eat what they like during school lunch times as they aren't allowed to eat like that normally.

My Ds went on and on about McD's when he was little(about 3)and so I took him in there, got him chicken in a bun...he only liked the bread! so, he doesn't like it in his own opinion, which just happens to match my own .
The only thing we did used to enjoy were the milkshakes ~ very occasionally, until it was reported that they used chicken fat in them...never again.

filet o fish has 350 calories and a small fries has 230 calories so your lo's must have had something else to make up to the 960 calories they had.

my lo's normally have the nuggets and fries with water/milk/milkshake to drink.

McDonalds is actually pretty low in calories compared to nonfranchised fast food restaurants. Part of this is portion control and part of it is the anti-obesity lawsuits from people who eat there every day and do fuck all exercise and then blame McDonalds for making them fat - as a result they are often reducing their calorie content.

We usually go to a local fried chicken place, and the amount of fries you get is MASSIVE. I can't finish them all, and I'm a greedy fucker. Went to KFC today and you get about 20 fries. Portion control = fewer calories

And I like some of those gourmet burger places, but they are far, far, far, more fatty/calorific than McDondalds

women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/diet_and_fitness/article726256.ece

Typical 'gourmet' burger:
805kcals
Fat 54.6g (of which saturates, 16.9g)
Salt 2.6g
Carbohydrate 37g (of which sugars, 10g)

McDonald's Big Mac:
493kcals
Fat 22.9g (of which saturates, 9.8g)
Salt 2.3g
Carbohydrate 44g (of which sugars, 11.6g)

And that's a Big Mac, the other burger choices are much less calorific.

I'd still prefer the gourmet one mind. Nothing wrong with calories, just do some exercise.

I don't think McDonalds tastes that nice, though I do like a Double Sausage & McMuffin, but there's a truly ridiculous amount of hysteria about them.

Big mac, fries and strawberry milkshake are my serious hangover cure. They should be on prescription.
