about once or twice a month here, usually ss has them with fish fingers, dd won't touch them, prefers those odd smiley things....so once a month for those as well, unless we're out anywhere, ie the dredded McD's when ss has them with a burger (dd doesn't touch them at all )

Gobbledigook · 02/03/2005 18:14

Dh and I - very rarely. May go to the chippy once a month or even less.

Kids - would eat them every night - well they used to have Smiles but for a while now I've making my own 'chips' i.e. just a potato cut into wedges, skin still on, and baked in the oven so not fried at all - perfectly health no?!

SeaShells · 02/03/2005 18:15

Well on the days I don't have fat juicy chips...

I tend to have skinny juicy chips instead!

stitch · 02/03/2005 18:16

kids have them lots of times. at least five times id say. they like them.
i only have them if having their leftovers.
oven chips that is.

Hulababy · 02/03/2005 18:16

GDG - I do homemade oven chips too, but they can take so long to cook. Or mine do. They are summy though, especially drizzled in olive oil with crushed herbs or garlic on them.

NotQuiteCockney · 02/03/2005 18:16

GDG, we make those once in a while, particularly with teeny tiny potatoes. They're really quite healthy - we do them with paprika, garlic and oil. DH loves them, but I can't be bothered. Actually, I barely eat potatoes. I made aligot this week, but generally, potatoes don't exist to me.

We do get fish + chips from the chippy once a month or so.

Hulababy · 02/03/2005 18:17

None chip days = pasta, rice, cous cous, potatoes (jacket or mashed, find boiled a bit boring)), noodles, etc.

PuffTheMagicDragon · 02/03/2005 18:17

Very rarely . I look at one and put on 2lbs. But when I go to stay with my Aunt, I treat myself to a bag and have them in sandwiches. Chip butty's - yum. Dh and ds1, ds2 don't like chips much so I don't tend to cook them at home.

PuffTheMagicDragon · 02/03/2005 18:18

Instead of chips, we have rice, new potatoes, mashed potatoes (often with sweet potato mixed in) and various pastas.

Enid · 02/03/2005 18:20

We only ever have chips if having fish, chips and peas or steak and chips - both seen as great treats in this house and happen fairly rarely.

Kids like new potatoes, baked potatoes, sliced potatoes baked with stock, mash, rice and pasta, or sometimes even just bread and butter as their carbs

Gobbledigook · 02/03/2005 18:21

Same here Enid for me and dh - fish and chips or steak and chips but that's it. Otherwise it's rice, pasta, baked potatoes, roast potatoes, mash.

Oven chips maybe once every couple of weeks - only homefries though - all the others are vile. With a big blob of mayo mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Probably once every 2 weeks at the most. I have a deep fat fryer, and I use ordinary potatoes (unpeeled) for my chips. Never ever saw the attraction in frozen chips...
