It's on Netflix.

I cried buckets. Absolutely loved it.

How have I missed this so far? And what else do I need to watch?

The directors cut is best left alone it was perfect in its cinema cut Grin

Director's cuts are usually just egotistical outings.

So was the one I watched last night without Elena's daughter the cinema cut?

If he met his lost love the blonde girl that is the director's cut.

If he never meets her then that is the first (and best film).

No, he never met her.

It was perfect as it was.

See, I liked the Director's Cut. The original was bittersweet and brilliant but I was so happy that Toto hadn't waited in vain through the wind and rains after all Blush.

My favourite movie. Directors cut ruined it a bit but I have erased it from my mind now.
Yes to Indochine, Il postino.
No no no to Life is beautiful. Couldn't bare it.

Can I recommend La Lengua de la Mariposa (Butterfly's Tongue). It's beautiful but a bit of a sob-fest - you have been warned!

It also features a cute little boy that you just want to squeeze Grin

Tornatore also directed my favourite film ever "The Legend of 1900. The Pianist on the Ocean". It has the same luscious photography, themes of friendship, laughter-through-tears moments (the joke about the one-armed pianist and St. Peter is a classic) and (some) Morricone music.
It flopped at the box office, probably because it came out at the same time as Titanic.
Personally, I recommend it to anyone who loved Cinema Paradiso.
