Is anyone else just starting out on sertraline?

Does anyone want to ride through these first couple of weeks with me?

I took my first dose yesterday and will be taking my second tonight. No side affects after the first one other than not being able to sleep at all.

Anyone else out there for support? Flowers

Anybody suffered with what feels like 1 dry eye?. Was absolutely fine until day 5.

SirRaymond I had bad tummy too when I started but has settled down now. I got it anyway when stressed so hard to know whether it was the pills or my mood- or both Confused

I've just gone up to 100mg. The last week. Having a really tough day today, snappy, feel unloved, feel dread in my body can't shift it.

cymrukernow I just couldn't stand the nausea and fever and pounding heart, so on Doctor's advice I have got sertraline out of my system and have now been prescribed fluoxitine. Two days in with F and I feel better, just a bit dizzy. I don't think S suited me at all.

I admire everyone who has stuck with it through the horrible side effects at the start and I wish you all the best of luck and hope sertraline works well for you

Just found this thread. I started just under 4 weeks ago on 50mg (with beta blockers for anxiety) and had horrible nausea and dry mouth and bouts of diarrhoea which all calmed down.
Spoke to my GP yesterday as anxiety still there and he increased me to 100mg which I started yesterday. Today horrible diarrhoea again. Is anyone else having this problem? Will it go away? Hugs to you all going through anxiety and depression.

Pigzoom I went up to 100mg about a month ago.
Sunsetbeach my headaches were so awful in the first few weeks I was prescribed cocodamol which took the edge off. Hopefully they will fade.

I've been on it for a couple of months now. After an awful first few weeks I have come out the other side and feeling much MUCH better. Only 2 side effects: slight sense of detachment sometimes, like I don't give a * about things I probably should, also my period didn't happen last month. I have had a holiday abroad in December which helped!

How is everyone getting on?
I'm week 7/8 and have just had my dose upped to 100mg. Had a nose bleed today, dry lips and hot flushes. But my god I feel soooooo much better I can cope with life

Called my doctor this morning as the nausea has been unbearable and I've had a high temperature too. He said to stop taking it and come in next week when I'm feeling better and they will prescribe me something else. Wasnt expecting that, but I've never felt so ill on a AD before.

I'm on my third day of 50mg. The anxiety has been horrible, and oh my God the nausea! I take them at night to try and avoid the worst of it, don't know if that's the right thing to do. I've also had bad headaches but Hedex seems to sort them out. I do feel like my mood has been lifted a little already, however.

I came off Sertraline after a year because I was always very angry and anxious. The depression was sorted but I was a mess in other ways. I had been on Prozac for many years before this but I felt like that had started making me angry.
I started Citalopram on Thursday and I feel great so far! The only side efffect I have had is restless legs (which I suffer from sometimes anyway), so I make sure that I take it in the morning so I can walk off the restless legs.

Thanks for those words. I know I should keep going with them. Have ended up having a bloody rubbish Christmas.

2 good friends take sertraline and swear by it so I am hoping they will work out for me.

It does get better, honestly. I am starting to feel the good effects properly now, but the nasty side effects only really lasted a week.

50mg. I thought today was better but just had a massive crying fit.

Sorry it's not going well, wherehaveigoneto. What dose are you on?

I am 5 days in and feel awful. Spaced out, exhausted and more anxious than before. I am so scared I won't be able to get back to work in January.

Does it get better?

Glad you are doing well, apart from the dreams, leopardstick.
After my initial positivity, I'm not feeling that great - really tired and hungry all the time!

Oh and my dreams are still quite distressing!

I hope you are all doing much better. I am happy to report that at week six (the first four being hell) I am feeling actually happier than I have felt... Probably my whole adult life. Still hot all.the.time. But a small price to pay.

These may not be for everyone but for me they are a lifesaver. Maybe quite literally.

Day 2 and tbh terrified to take another today. Had no idea a medication could effect me quite so fast, my heart is pounding and I have the terrible feeling of terror and dread. I don't think I actually slept one wink. Was fine on mirtazapine but the weight gain was awful and have been taken off hrt due to breast problems. So all in all I feel an absolute wreck. Think I'll have a phone consult with the GP and ask about some valium, is that what many do for the first couple weeks?
