Fluoxetine not working?

When my DD was about 10 months I was diagnosed with delayed PND & put on 40 mg of Fluoxetine.

Felt better within a few weeks & everything seemed to improve.

3 years later I am now on 20mg (have been for about a year) & am struggling now to decipher what is 'true' depression & what is just real life crap.

I don't want to be on ADs indefinately but all I do know is tht I am REALLY REALLY short tempered again with DCs & DH (have been for a while). No anxiety as such but just feel like everything in life is a huge effort.

I feel like I'm in limbo & know I really should be having this conversation with my GP but feel a bit of a fraud.

Does anyone have experience of Fluoxitine's effects waring off, or unexplained behaviour whilst on it? Should I perhaps look to try another AD?

Any advice gratefully received x

Doormat, sorry x posted.

I sooo remember flying around the place as well. Could not physically keep still and never had a cleaner houseWink.

But it just seems to have plateaued and I just not sure if fluoxetine is having an effect anymore.

Thanks for your advice x

No nothing else. When I was first diagnosed had stressful job to deal with as well & GP must have thought medication was the best course of action.

Am a fulfilled STAHM now and have no earthly reason to feel this way. My life is good in all other respects - hence feeling like a fraud & a bad mother Sad

Ridiculous & self pitying I know.

chasing i was on flux or prozac as it called for years...i was upped and then downed like a yoyo....at first it was great and would have all my housework, wahing etc done for 9am....right little willy whizz...but it wore off after a few months..as i said it was upped and downed and in the end after a very tragic event in my life i was prescribed meds for post traumatic stress as i suffered sever flashbacks....

my advice would be for you to have a chat with gp...maybe there is something else you could take ...good luck sweetie xxx
