Doff your top hats, lean on your canes, 'tis a Victorian Christmas for the BESH. Baste those turkeys in Victoria & Albert style, and maintain a stiff upper lip when you fill in the BESHtionnaire to see if you are cynical stoic enough to win a Baybee.

Hello BESHes. Thank you for your lovely words of solace. I do actually feel much comforted. In addition I spent the evening at a Christmas soiree and then repaired to the public house in order to toast the season and wish each other well.During this time I happened to fall into conversation with a fellow member of our singing group, and conversation happened to proceed to matters pertaining to fertility and the procurement of offspring. And I chanced to find out that she has three children, the first of whom was born when the good lady was 38, the second at 39 and she has recently been safely delivered of a daughter at the age of almost 42. As you can imagine I was much, much cheered by this turn of events. We exchanged telephone numbers - if by the grace of God this newfangled invention of Mr Bell's continues - and resolved to keep in touch forthwith after wishing each other compliments of the festive season.

I thank you greatly for your kindnesses earlier.

Is there a BESH out there who won't have a non-penile implement shoved up her fanny in the forthcoming months? Well?

Morning gentleman...sorry the Droid for you euro and rie I'm so sorry...its so shiite when they mess you about on appointments etc. I remember my mums final op having to be canceled as the only surgeon who could do it broke his wrist skiing....I remember being furious and how dare he ski when he had such important hands!
Well I'm mildly panicked today as my buZwams have been agony for the last two Weeks but yesterday less so and today not at all...I have no other symptoms and now I'm getting really worried.

May fortune go with you this morning, MrSinks, sir. What is this one for?

AMNH is off to repeat his jizz test today for an updated picture of the state of his bollocks.

Tis my first appointment peeps.

Did all the clomid jazz at one clinic, but they didn't do any more than that, so it referred in April (!) to our local ivf centre. Got bloods, fanjo cam and GHJ's boys checked in aug. This is the appointment after that. I presume to give us results and tell us what next?

But who's to say. Maybe it'll be another fannycam. That'd be nice.

Keeping the old fanjo presentable is a full time job through all these potential dildo moments.

Yep norfy. One more cycle of futile fvking to go, and then natural IVF, so I'm probably looking at EC in late Jan.

Not I, Rie. I shall be having a good dildocamming in late Jan, I expect.

blu I think it's normal for preggo symptoms to come and go a bit. My friend had a couple of miscarriages and then her son. During the last pregnancy she had hyperemesis. Every time the symptoms abated enough for her to hold something down she panicked. But I think it's normal.

Good luck to all with appointments in the offing. I myself have yet to lay my golden egg, that would be too simple! Mega-cycle here we go again!

Ultrasound done. Right ovary still polycystic, left ovary still has one large cyst. Sonographer also thought my left fallopian tube may be dilated. She thought I should prob be referred to gynae to investigate all this before ivf, so in the new year I shall be requesting referral for both... She thought laparoscopy would likely be needed to investigate, which will be a new experience anyway.

Draf, My lap was fine. Apart from downing 3 litres to try and pee so they would discharge me, then vomiting it all on my driveway. But seriously, paracetamol and codeine, a sofa and the tv on day one and was back at work on day 4.

So... Clinic. Apparently ghj's jizz is not as good as our last unit said. Numbers, motility etc all good, but normal morphology is 1%. (normal is 4%- who knew 96% of sperm are deformed?). This means they are offering icsi rather than plain ivf. This sounds big. They're also worried because I'm young (hollow laugh), have loads of follicles and a high amh that I'll overstimulate. And, they remind me, I only get 1 nhs funded cycle.

So. Next cylce I'm going to be on menopur injections with all the scans you can shake a dildocam at. Apparently it might work, but it also will help predict how I'll respond to ivf and tailor the drugs.

This is real now isn't it?

Oh, and how could I forget. Metformin.

Anyone had it? Not looking forward to starting that over Christmas..

Report
Northey · 20/12/2012 20:10

Yeah, I was on it for a few years. I stopped at the ectopic, becauseivf concerns about the interaction with methotrexate and haven't bothered starting again because I know I've got ivf coming up. I found it utterly unproblematic. No vomiting, no excessive pooing, no weirdness. Nothing.

Good to hear.

Consultant thought it wouldn't make me ov, but might help the injections make me ov. Or some such.

I just see all the side effects at work. And between you, me and the Internet, my bowels really don't need any help in that dept.

I doff my hat gentlemen. I must ajourn to my evening repast of ministering smelling salts to the ailing.

Glad to hear lap is not too scary, thanks, sink. I'm not worried (much) about anaesthetics, though the last time I had a general I was twelve, so might be a different feeling these days. Sounds like your next cycle will be full of nosy parkers, but I suppose close monitoring is useful? Knowledge is power and all that.

Morning all.

I had a lovely evening last night, getting lightly battered with my old junior (who is now a bigshot barrister who probably earns three times as much as I do). And I don't seem to be overhung this morning by some miracle. Huzzah!

I had a lap when I was 19, draf. I don't remember it being too bad. I had it on a Thursday or Friday morning. On Sunday, I travelled by coach from London to Birmingham (back to university - I had the op at my home hospital as I'd started investigations pre-yooni) and felt a bit fragile but managed it (including carrying my weekend bag). (Unfortunately I then got a rash and passed out, which my GP decided was a reaction to one of the drugs I had been given, but that is just me. I'm not good with drugs. On the upside, this meant I took the rest of the week off classes and I was inundated with requests to repeat the passing out trick in next week's French grammar class as it distracted the lecturer from verbs for a while.)

Huzzah for what sounds a most excellent evening at your club, mreuro!

My hackney carriage this morning is standing room only and extremely delayed. Am sitting on the floor and wondering why I bothered boarding the damn thing at all. I should just have said I wasn't coming in today and sodded the whole thing.
