Asda delivery christmas slots

Asda delivery slots were released today to delivery pass holders. Tried booking but can't load any slots past the 18th of December Hmm usually we can view and book up until the 23rd. Anyone else having the same problem?

It’s unfair to change the policy by making them pay for the delivery AND a minimum order just as lockdown restarted.

Why is it unfair?

The supermarkets are giving vulnerable people the opportunity to see the slots a week before non pass holders, so that they are more able to be able to book a slot.
If people want the added bonus of free delivery they should pay for the full delivery pass like everyone else.

Asda emailed priority pass holder in September to tell them this change was happening, it is just a unfortunate coincidence that it coincided with the lockdown.

Vulnerable people were lucky they were given the service for free for 8 months.

Having looked at this topic on Twitter I’m gobsmacked by how many people feel so entitled to receive for free, services that most people happily pay for.

It’s unfair to change the policy by making them pay for the delivery AND a minimum order just as lockdown restarted.

My Mum is elderly and CEV. She has been told by the government that she should not go to the shops in their latest advice. She lives alone and doesn’t need more than £40 of food for a week, but she does need milk and bread and fresh food. This is why it makes me cross.

We have changed her slot to a cheaper time of the week. But can’t do anything about the minimum order amount.

I think it's fair to pay for the slots

I'm on the priority list as was shielding and have to pay for any deliveries except from Asda so it's not a surprise that they've reviewed this

Still hoping for a Tesco slot instead though as our Asda subs have been awful over the summer

Ahhh yes, they did change the policy for the priority pass,
Now the priority pass just gives you the ability to see and book slots in advance of them being available to none pass holders, and gives you the ability to book recurring slots.
You still have to pay the delivery fee as you would a standard non delivery pass slot.

I don’t see anything wrong with that tbh,
it’s like Amazon prime or anything else, I’m happy to pay for the privilege of free delivery in the form of monthly delivery pass.
The people deemed vulnerable are given the advantage of being able to book a slot before anyone without a pass so that they have more chance of getting a slot before they book up.
It seems fair to me.

Here is the explanation from Asda.

I think it must be due to the priority pass no longer being valid

I have deliveries booked every week until Christmas and all have a the free delivery if you spend over £40.
I have a anytime delivery pass.

It still says £40 minimum spend in the terms and conditions, which I have screenshot.
(I was signed out so this was the blanket T&C not the ones for my delivery pass, just in case the had been changed)

I’ve done all that and even called them & was told all deliveries have charges now starting Nov

@Justyou

Don’t know if pic attached

That’s definitely a glitch.
Try signing out and then back in again,
or checking out and then going back to amend the order.

It must be an error as they'd never fit the shopping on the van if it's £999!!

I got mine for 23rd, planning to cancel if I can get my Tesco one next week

£1000 for free delivery? That’s a joke!!

@Hmmph

Thanks all. Managed to get my Mum a slot for 23rd.

However I am very angry that Asda have decided to introduce charges for the shielding! £3 if you don’t meet their minimum delivery charge of £40 (which she doesn’t as she is elderly and lives alone) AND a £6 delivery charge!

Absolutely appalling treatment of the most vulnerable when they cannot go to the supermarket as we’ve entered a second lockdown and they’ve been told not to.

I’m going to try and persuade my loyal Asda shopping Mum to swap to a nicer, kinder supermarket.

I think now you don’t even have a minimum spend for delivery charge my order was around 80 and it said I needed to spend another £919.81 to get free delivery!!

I managed to get a Xmas slot for 21st. But does anyone know when you can get a slot in between Xmas and new year?? As my recurring slot isn’t valid then.
I don’t have a car and with a 2 & 4 year old on my own would be a nightmare trying to get a bus to a supermarket and carry it all back

Shitfuckoh · 06/11/2020 07:46

I don't drive so it was a case of getting it booked and if I can't sort any where else, at least it's the cost of a 1 way bus ticket without the DC and the stress of doing it all!

Wondering now though if things will actually have good enough dates on them - usually I'd book the 23rd but forgot to stay up until midnight to book.

£6for delivery was too much for me so I got a click and collect for the 23rd, DH offered to to pick shopping up. He just has to sit in the car while they load the shopping in the boot,love the drive through.

It's just a case of getting something booked, isn't it? Then seeing if you can improve on it anywhere else!

£6 does feel steep. I'm pretty sure it wasn't that in previous years too.

@NoWordForFluffy

There were later ones here, as I had a nosy. But I've got a free Waitrose delivery as my back up for if I fail to get Sainsbury's, I'm not paying £6 for an Asda one!

I usually have a delivery pass but don't recall it ever being £6 until this time!
Waitrose were all booked out near me Sad

@Hmmph, slots are open now!

(Quotes don't notify people of a post, so I'm belt and braces to let her know!)

Thank you.

Absolutely awful though to remove the priority delivery option for those shielding at Christmas time. Let’s hope they have some slots left on 6 November so the vulnerable don’t have to starve for Asda’s profit margins.
