Cookery book recommendation for 12/13 year old boy

Hi, I'm looking for recommendations for a baking/cookery book that would appeal to a 12/13 year old boy. He's recently been doing food technology at school and has enjoyed coming home and doing the recipes at home, so things like scones, pancakes, bread rolls etc. He's not into proper cooking (dinners or anything like that) but seems to like making treats for us, although he's not so bothered about eating cake himself!

I don't want to get anything too girly, or boring, but do want to encourage him! Any suggestions?

Jamie's Ministry of food? Though that does have a lot of dinners.

How about any of the Paul Hollywood books?

Or the fabulous Baker brothers

Think Paul Hollywood might be a bit too "professional" for him. There seems to be mixed reviews of the Baker Brothers books, I'll have to have a closer look I think. Might go with 500 Cookies, Biscuits & Bakes as a starting point and see how he gets on with that. Thanks for suggestions!

Sam Stern is good

I would recommend Edd Kimber's book, The Boy Who Bakes.

Yes to Sam Stern. Or a Jamie Oliver basics one.

Sam Stern or the Baker Brothers. Jamie is always good. Hairy Bikers lots of interesting asides make fir an interesting read.

Ive got this for ds1 (13).
I looked at Sam Stern but they seemed to be student, meal for one, type and I think cooking for the family would be better.
We have loads of baking books and I want him to move onto meals.
I looked at Jamie Oliver but went for this one on price.

No idea if it's any good though as its not Christmas yet :)

One of the Sam Stern ones is for students, but the others have recipes for up to 4 iirc.

The Slater one is nice - mostly recipes for 2, iirc. I have it and can check, if you want?

Much better than The Ministry of Food which is only poor version of Delias Cookery Course

If it is just for cakes then BBC good food 101 cakes and bakes is good, loads of ideas and variety. For other stuff perhaps river cottage everyday? This has all sorts from breakfast ideas to bread and cakes and of course proper meals, all fairly simple.

The Sam Stern's we have are family type meals, but with a teenage slant, definitely not cooking for one or students.
Bruffin I think if you want to cook, and learn to cook everything starting with the very basic then Delia's Learn to cook is great, but for someone who doesn't want to know how to boil an egg, but would like to serve his family a meal, Jamie's Ministry is better.
I have both, and hundreds more too btw, I'm a cookery book addict.

The Sorted book is great for teenagers and much better than the MOF. Its not cooking for 1.

Delia's Cakes - it's foolproof. Accounts for a couple of stone of my weight though

Thanks for all the suggestions...we've already got quite a lot of cookery books from the main cheffy people as DH likes to cook too, but want to get DS a book of his own. He seems to enjoy baking more than meals at the moment, so I'll see what the one I've ordered is like when it comes, and then hopefully we can branch out into some of the more teenagery suggestions through the year. That would be good, as I'm going to be working full time from the new year so maybe he can have dinner on the table when I get home
