I've just seen it. It's absolutely the best one yet. Totally ridiculously, I'm in floods of tears.

That sounds lovely Guitar. I am amazed that the toys haven't come back into stock online. I thought it was all a publicity stunt but surely they wouldn't have lost so much potential selling time by choice. Are they back in stores, does anyone know?

Took the DCs down to oxford street yesterday to see the lights and window displays. They each took a much-loved toy into JL to put them into the toy machine there to watch them dancing on the screen. It was quite good fun, they loved seeing their toys 'come to life' and dancing.

We went up to Monty's garden then on the 5th floor and had a hot chocolate in front of the pretend fire. They loved it to be honest. Except now DD is eyeing up our garden to see how she can make it look like Monty's Xmas Grin.

God so glad I found this thread. Just watched it and thought how weird to base it on the penguin wanting an adult relationship in the boy's mind.

Me, I want 1 Monty for ds & a Mabel for dd.

Haha - all are out of stock on the official page but someone on <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/aclk?sa=L&ai=CXBsbGcJgVOXUKML9yAH8z4D4B9KVipwF2o_O4rwBmvbm9poCCAQQAygFYLuWvYPQCsgBB6kCQNgBRSCmuj6qBCdP0Be-kzkZOPLgrWTHUBTWU9pdKSgUt5z4Bq9SHHW2HwvvZM27jK7ABQWgBiaAB-Kl4xyQBwOoB6a-G-ASl-HMjrSxiIFx&sig=AOD64_3CgC_WPjKHxY6tjjIf7ezFRrBREg&ctype=5&rct=j&q=&ved=0CC8Qwg8&adurl=rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-134428-41853-0/2%3Fipn%3Dicep%26icep_id%3D67%26mtid%3D1673%26kwid%3D1%26crlp%3D50600204586_563391%26icep_item_id%3D271660998231%26itemid%3D271660998231%26icep_meta_categ_id%3D220%26icep_etrs%3DN%26icep_epid%3D-999%26icep_ctlg%3D-999%26icep_cond%3DNew%26targetid%3D75947948826%26rpc%3D0.14%26rpc_upld_id%3D38331%26device%3Dc%26icep_msku_flag%3Dn%26icep_cbt%3Dn%26adtype%3Dpla" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">ebay is selling it for £80! DS wanted to see this . Then he watched The Parody .

Then the 2010 (with The Dog in the Outdoor Kennel Parody)

Then he wanted to see The Hare and the Bear....and The Parody.

"I wish I hadn't seen that" he said Sad (it's got some Watership Down scenes)

He is nearly 15 (awww)

Crumple I know what a therapist would advise to overcome your phobia then....watching endless Morph episodes Wink. Mind you I never realised Morph was plasticine, I guess he is but I just assumed some kind of unidentified malleable material Smile.

You know the advert does work because the scenes at the beginning are so cute (the lego, the trampoline, decorating the tree for goodness sake) that I'm going to have to watch it again.

I thought it was lovely and yes I cried.

It sends a pretty dodgy message, I agree. Plus the penguin eyes in the close-ups freak me right out.
John Lewis, if you're reading you should hire temporaryusername to make your next ad. That would have been ace!
My favourite is still the one where the boy couldn't wait for Christmas to give his parents their present. It had the best song.

I have bought a Monty and Mabel and they are super cute. In theory they are for DS but really they are for the house which means me !

I hadn't seen the advert at the time but I do like it

How can Monty be sold out already?

goldenlilliesdaffodillies · 06/11/2014 18:22

I liked the snow people one and loved the hare and bear advert last year. This one is sweet but not as good as the other 2.

DS2 after watching it: "Mummy - I've decided what i want for christmas...a pet penguin. A REAL one." Thanks John Lewis.

Oi temp you taking the piss out of my very well founded, I mean Morph is sinister phobia?! Wink

Your alternative advert would have been MUCH better, I agree.

temp

yes. that would've been fantastic. I'm getting soppy at the thought!

You know what would have been cute is if we'd seen the scenes of him with his penguin, and if he had been visiting his mum in the hospital (decorated to show Christmas) to see a new baby sister. Then she brings the baby home at Christmas and he has got a penguin for the baby so she can a true friend like his.

It melted my heart as DD has a soft.Mouse toy that goes everywhere with her and I would love if her imagination made her see him as a Real.Mouse as this little boy sees his Penguin.

It also reminds me of the beautiful Lost and Found book by Oliver Jeffers.

green

when our 4 older boys see anything like kissing on tv they either go giggly or just go "yuck"
and it's not just the pre teens. very young teenagers also react with "ooh bleach my eyes" at displays of romance, they get embarrassed.
