What's wrong with my tree- inspire me

I know it not quite right. That year it was a bit 'threw together' as I had a new baby and didn't put enough decorations on the back so it was a bit wobbly.

I won't put the crackers on this year but I don't know what to do with it. I am expecting again and will have a new baby again so I will put the tree up early December but will have a lot of visitors during December and want it to look better (dh will do it for me though)

The tree is old bu I don't want the expense of a new one this year. I didn't open up all the branches as full as I could.

Ps .. Don't flame me, I am allowed to talk about this in this thread Grin and have good reason to get ready earlier.

Open all the branches out as far as they can go, and get a load of different coloured baubles! Lights look fine to me :)

You need more baubles - loads and loads more - and put them right into the tree near the trunk as well as on the outside so that the tree is "full" and the lights bounce around creating more warmth.

I don't have a colour theme for the tree but all the baubles are glass ones (different colours, but I like traditional colours - red, green, silver, gold, rich jewel shades. No pink.teal or lime for me )

This year, I'm going to hang tiny mirrors in the branches to reflect the lights (stole that idea from Pinterest Smile )

I'm not sure. The one I have was from Next about 15 years ago, but the wicker pot at the bottom is similar.

That tree is perfect. Looks real ! Is that the going price for them?

Something like http://uk-gardens.co.uk/epages/950002407.mobile/?ObjectPath=/Shops/950002407/Products/UKG15605&Locale=en_GB this except it is darker green and you can see the trunk more below the leaves

We've got a fake tree from Next that I bought about 15 years ago. The base is a weighted wicker pot which I like.

real trees can be a faff in their own way - go out in cold and wet weather to choose them, get needles all over car seats, have to cut off the base when you get home, then need to put in proper stand and remember to water it and then get rid off it!

I like the way you've decorated your tree op. The tree is a bit narrow for my tastes, but I appreciate it might be down to space issues. Some lovely trees people have posted. My particular favourites are the red and gold ones like Fcuk's and whiter shades

I'd actually stay with a fake tree....

Last year my tree was in a lovely basket to hide the feet.

You need more colour!

This year we are going old school.

I've given up on LED lights, they make the room look like a nightclub (because I use way too many).

I'm getting a load of multicoloured filament lights, and throwing them on with tinsel, our mis-matched bauble collection, and glittery things.

And a star on top.

It's going to be amazing, and not cool/tasteful/fashionable/on trend at all. Grin

also have some bead strings. I think maybe your decorations are too big for the tree. Could you get lots of smaller ones instead?

No heavy/large ornaments at the top.
More lights.
Crackers at a jaunty angle, repeated down the tree.
Tree skirt (I love mine!).
Few ornaments around the back.

Do you put your lights on first? Have you tried going up+down rather than left-right-circle?

My tree doesn't have a 'theme'. I have been making decorations every year and have built up a collection of felt+ribbon christmas puddings, little beaded Joy/Noel/Feliz thingymibobs (will have to photo and post, hard to explain), felt mooses with jaunty collars (Ikea cookie cutter template), robbins, snowmen... all kinds of crap loveliness. I don't like themed trees, they lack imagination imvho.

A friend has made a little felt tree with a number for each married Christmas her and her husband have celebrated - it's lovely after 12 years.

What would ypu like your tree to look like? Go from there.

(I made a small felt stocking today, so I don't give a flying sprig of holly that you've posted a Christmas quandry in July Grin )
